Like the 'Avengers' having to unite and align their strategy to defeat the dreaded Thanos...WE that have spent our career in the beloved Motion Picture industry have to use our collective passion, talent, creativity, tenacity, fairness and integrity to defeat the challenges that threaten our way of life, and the art form adored by billions of people worldwide over the last 100 years.
Many know what needs to be done, but equitable pathways forward, that will allow the entire ecosystem to flourish, are being disrupted by short-term greed, power struggles, and lack of long-term strategic vision.

I literally cringe when I hear "hire to fit" and always have. To expand on the article's message (it's a great read by the way, so take the time), this approach to hiring can also reflect lazy leadership.
A leader's job is to hire for the #skills that are needed and then ensure that a diverse team comes together. Sometimes that is not an easy task and makes the job harder. Well, too bad -- that is what leaders do.
Military leaders are very familiar with "working with who you have". Command and enlisted leaders are not hiring managers. When there is a vacancy, the military sends a replacement. It is the job of leadership to ensure teamwork.
At its worst, "hire to fit" can lead to discrimination. And to be honest, most organizations have not appropriately defined their culture in the first place, so that leaves an organization open to "hire because we like them".
Unfortunately, diversity has been politicized and lost most of its true meaning. You never sacrifice knowledge, skills, and abilities -- but be aware that "hire to fit" isn't being used to avoid the challenges of integrating diverse viewpoints and working styles into the team.

Very interesting concepts on hiring. Too many times, we don’t take the time to hire the right people and pay them what they are worth. I know too many people that are doing the work of more than one person only to get “looked over” when it comes to their own promotions or lateral moves. If you do what it takes to keep your talented associates, the salary will pay for itself.
