On the 21st May, 2024 we held our fifth First Travel Solutions Supplier Event at the John Smith's Stadium in Huddersfield. This proved to be one of our most popular events yet and was another fantastic opportunity to engage with our wonderful Bus and Coach Suppliers. We started the event with a discussion on the Office of Rail and Road Recommendations, focussing on vehicle tracking and signage - in particular the launch of our new Driver Companion App and our collaborative trial with TPE to introduce new Destination Signage for passengers. We then opened our Q & A session where there was particular focus on the use of electric destination blinds, and the new PSVAIR regulations. We ended the day with a presentation from our colleagues at TransPennine Express who offered an insight into their world and how real time information is invaluable to all passengers trying to plan their journeys and make the most out of their day. Also how the implementation of tracking systems allows for a smooth operation throughout the day - reducing the need for multiple phone calls between TPE - FTS - Coach Drivers. A number of corrective actions were taken away by the FTS team which we will work on with the relevant departments in the hope of improving our relationship with Suppliers and improving the experience for them, and in turn, our TOCs and passengers. We’re thrilled to announce a significant milestone here at Masabi: we were recently awarded a $97 million contract extension by New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), spanning up to 12 years. Since the 2016 launch of MTA’s eTix mobile ticketing service, Masabi’s software has become critical to railroad fare collection operations. Today, 70 percent of MNR and LIRR’s revenue is enabled by mobile ticketing. We’re delighted to be supporting the MTA in enhancing the TrainTime app and completing OMNY delivery, while continuing to create experiences that MTA riders love. MTA Chair and CEO Janno Lieber stated, "The new approach is going to give users the sense of interoperability they expect while limiting MTA's contractor risk and saving millions of dollars." When I snapped this photo, how many other units globally were in the same position?
