Rapid growth in renewable generation slashed the wholesale cost of power in the national energy grid late last year, and dramatically reduced reliance on coal-fired power. Prices more than halved in the final three months of 2023 compared to the same period in 2022, as power supplied by large-scale renewables and rooftop solar soared. "We are regularly seeing records set for the higher contribution of renewables and lower levels of energy drawn from the grid because of rooftop solar. As our coal-fired generators retire, renewable generation will power our homes and businesses." #renewableenergy #solarenergy #solarpower #solarpanels #sustainableenergy #photovoltaic #energyefficiency #westernaustralia #greenenergy #offgridsolar #tdlelectrical

The UK's solar energy sector is booming, with 647 MW of new solar capacity installed in the first half of 2024, making it the leading renewable energy source for new capacity additions. While the majority of installations are domestic, the UK government is encouraging greater uptake in the commercial sector to further boost solar energy adoption. With continued growth and government support, solar energy is poised to play a significant role in the UK's transition to a clean energy future. Pineapple Energy’s Subsidiary SUNation Secures 1.95-Megawatt Solar Project in New York Pineapple Energy Inc. (Pineapple), a leading provider of sustainable solar energy and backup power solutions for households and small businesses, announced today that its New York-based subsidiary, SUNation, has signed a 1.95-megawatt solar project. SUNation is set to commence work on this large-scale commercial installation in early July. The project, to be installed on a large industrial building in New York, will feature an expedited installation process. The developer, with over 200 MW of energy in their projected renewables pipeline nationally, selected SUNation due to their extensive interconnection knowledge in the State of New York and their proven track record […] Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/dsidwwbT #solarenergy #alternativeenergy #solarpv #pvsolar #photovoltaic #cleanenergy #cleantech #climatechange #middleeast #africa #india #asiapacific #asia #america #northamerica #pineappleenergy #renewableenergy #solarenergy #sunation

😀📈We are encouraged to see that two states we are watching closely for solar growth, New Mexico and Georgia, scored well on a recent Climate Central, Inc. report about 2023 renewables growth. #Georgia had 8,103 GWh while #NewMexico had 3,223 GWh. And total solar generation for the United States last year? 238,000 GWh! via Canary Media Inc.: https://lnkd.in/g2PtiGEp #Deliveringacleanenergyfuture #solarpv #commercialsolar #communitysolar

UK energy company Centrica has completed the acquisition of a 16 MW solar farm and a co-located 3 MW battery energy storage system in Dorset, England. Centrica acquired the development rights for the two clean energy projects near Winterborne Whitechurch, which is scheduled to break ground in early 2024, with a view to export first power to the grid in 2025. Once online, Centrica’s new projects will be capable of powering 4,600 homes per annum, while the BES component will be able to deliver two hours of energy. “Solar will play an increasingly important role in the UK as we strive for a net zero energy system,” said Gregory McKenna, BSc, MBA, CDir, FIoD, Managing Director of Centrica Business Solutions. “We’re proud to be leading the charge in delivering a bank of assets across the UK that will help meet the need for clean energy generation and storage.” The new deal also forms part of Centrica’s plan to invest between £600 million to £800 million per annum until 2028 in renewables generation. Centrica recently acquired the 13 MW Roundponds Solar Farm in Wiltshire, which was commissioned in 2015. Sue Peart, Commercial Director of Centrica Energy Assets, added: “As the UK strives towards net zero, on-shore renewable power generation will play an essential role in delivering a secure supply of energy to homes and businesses. “The recent grid reforms announced by Ofgem are welcome news, but to unlock the full potential of renewable energy, we need to go further. This year will be pivotal for the energy industry – boosting capacity and prioritising the transmission network will be central to creating a grid fit for the future, and one that can manage the transition to net zero.” #cleanenergy

California has the third highest electricity costs in the US. I wonder how long will businesses and households tolerate higher prices in pursuit of their green agenda. Had they prioritized competitive nuclear power firms to build reactors, they would have green energy at a lower environmental and economic cost. Most solar panels are made in China using coal powered plants. And wind energy farms have a massive negative impact on the environment as the blades are packed into landfills https://lnkd.in/dznyE43e

Data from OpenNEM reveals that renewable energy sources played a significant role in meeting Australia's electricity demand in 2023, accounting for nearly 40% of the total. This brings the nation closer to achieving its target of 82% renewables by 2030. The contributions primarily came from small-scale solar, wind, and large-scale solar projects, which collectively supplied an average share of 38.4% renewables across the country's main grids from January 2023 to January 2024. This marks an increase from the previous year, where renewables accounted for over 35% of the energy mix. More and more Australians are starting their solar journey with Redback Technologies.
