This summer, the Makers’ Market experienced a remarkable increase in footfall on Saturday, 20 July, thanks to strategic partnerships and coinciding local events. Trampoline’s collaboration with St Peter’s Church, Walworth and with Notting Hill Genesis brought together a vibrant community this past month. This synergy not only provided entertainment and job opportunities but also created a bustling atmosphere that benefited local traders immensely. Participating in our Makers’ Market offers traders more than just a chance to sell their products. It's an opportunity to gain visibility through our social media channels, to network with fellow entrepreneurs, and to join our Start-Up Directory. Traders can also benefit from our hands-on support, such as set-up assistance and the provision of tables and gazebos. Perspective allows us to choose what we see. I have so much startup schwag collected over the years I can fill an entire closet. What I don't have much of is cool company branded socks. In the words of Ross Gellar... PIVOT!!! Here's the story of our EPIC FAIL 😅 and how we made the most of it! Recently, we took to the streets of London with two guerilla marketing events aimed at connecting with uni students and helping them find their next home! Our game plan was simple: engage directly with students, hand out cool merch, sign them up to our platform, and answer any questions about renting 😎 Our first event in Soho was a huge success! The streets were bustling with students who were excited to chat with us and loved the merch we handed out. It was incredible to see such a positive response and high engagement 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡 However, our second event in Elephant and Castle didn’t go as planned. Despite its proximity to UAL and LSBU, popular pubs, and a major nightclub with a student night, the area was eerily quiet 👻 No foot traffic, no students – just us! Instead of calling it a day, we decided to adapt 🕺🏼 We sat down with our ambassadors and turned the event into a focus group. We asked them how students really need help, what kind of merch is useful, and how they prefer to be communicated with. This impromptu session provided invaluable insights that we hadn’t anticipated 🙌🏽 The key takeaway? IT'S OK TO FAIL 💪🏽 In fact, it's a crucial part of growth and learning. Not every plan will go perfectly, but the ability to adapt and learn from each experience is what drives success. 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝘂𝘀 ↓ - 15 people reached out for the Amsterdam group - 7 of them filled out my Form (collecting input) - 4 gym locations (incl. PTs) have reached out to me 𝗜'𝘃𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗔𝗺𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗮𝗺 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝗼. The 'downside' of physical activities as a group is that we must be in the same room. But. I might have an idea. 3. 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁 ↓ 1. I could create a Skool group/community 2. Selection would be exclusive and strict 3. No group calls, no fluff, no resources 4. One chat room for online biz/LinkedIn 5. One chat room for sharing workouts "No group calls?" No, I try to limit calls etc as much as possible and this won't be a cohort or something similar. Lights, camera, action! 🎥 HOLD ON... not so quick! If you are considering adding a video to your private club's website with the intent to attract and convert potential members (and we hope you will!) consider taking the time to plan your video shoot making sure you give your prospect what THEY need rather than telling them what YOU think they need. Make the story where your members are the heroes, not your leadership team. Take a cue from Canoe Brook Country Club, who embarked on creating a membership recruitment video. The secret sauce? Putting their members front and center as the "heroes" of the story. Just like every hero faces a challenge, Canoe Brook's members shared what they were looking for when considering joining the club. It wasn't just about the amenities, it was about becoming a part of a community and providing an enriching environment where their kids would thrive. Enter the "guide" from the club, shedding light on why this family-friendly community was precisely what these heroes were searching for. The video showcased not just family fun but a foundation for lifelong friendships. (Connections that continue even for members who have moved on from the club!) Finally, the video ends with a powerful call to action from existing members who voluntarily act as ambassadors to help identify and sponsor new members. Recognizing this is the lifeblood of a healthy club. As you can tell, the team at Canoe Brook didn't just show up to film soundbites and pretty b-roll imagery, they came prepared to create a story that inspired potential members to become the heroes in their own club story. Where are your results? When we being new ventures or new products people may ask us questions like: "So... what did you learn so far?" "Did you really gain anything from that project?" "Will this venture be different from the other ones?" At times you're confident in yourself and your path and you're ready to answer these questions ina heartbeat. Other times😅... Well you can't be the one to blame, at times not every venture or project or seminar we involve ourselves in may not always going to super and life changing, BUT It's the personal choice to make an attempt in participating and getting involved in an endeavor that you believe will improve your life. It's the choice on it's own that makes the difference because you'll slowly be more inclined to improving yourself so much so that *surprise* you improve yourself. So take the chance to try that skill, project or tutorial you think can help because it just might help you. And so let me display on my recent designs for this week.
