The EDSAFE AI Alliance developed a framework to ensure that AI innovations in education were aligned and developed with fundamental principles to promote safety, accountability, fairness and transparency, and efficacy in use (aka the SAFE Framework) Read the origin story https://lnkd.in/grX5FdpQ Built in 2001 and 2002, the SAFE framework responds to the urgent demand for coherent frameworks and guidance that can streamline the policy development and technology implementation processes, align diverse perspectives, and put in place an approach to address immediate and long-term concerns of these technologies. We’re honored to be on the Steering Committee.

As we start looking at the future of our country and with the elections in the near horizon, I feel now is the time to get the attention of the incoming President of the United States. If at any time at all, to get the AI in Education and Education Reform movement on the agenda and in the hands of the person who can make this happen, I have worked with my personal AI assistant to craft this letter to the President. Please Like, Repost, Share, and Comment to get this out into the “Viral universe “and more importantly in the eyes of the incoming President. Dear President, As highlighted during the campaign, our education system is not only broken, but in dire need of replacement. This should be a top priority for your administration, as now is the time to create a modern, effective system that prepares our future generations for the challenges and opportunities ahead. We call for a ground-up approach that puts students at the center and utilizes AI-driven solutions, with ethics, privacy, and unbiased practices as fundamental principles. This transformation is critical for our nation's success, and we look forward to collaborating with you in this vital effort. To foster open communication and collaboration on this matter, we invite you to join our AI and Education LinkedIn group. This platform serves as a hub for discussions among educators, AI experts, and concerned citizens who are dedicated to improving our nation's education system. Today, #TeachAI, an initiative led by Code.org, ETS, ISTE, Khan Academy, and the World Economic Forum, launched Foundational Policy Ideas for AI in Education. These resources help education leaders and policymakers create the enabling policy conditions for effective and responsible AI in education. Over the last few months I've had the privilege of representing Center for Security and Emerging Technology (CSET) on the TeachAI Advisory Committee to develop these policy resources. Our working group consisted of thought leaders, practitioners, and educators with incredibly diverse backgrounds. --- What are the Policy Resources? 💡 Info Briefs—A set of briefs to inform leaders about AI in education and its policy implications. 💡 Policy Ideas—Five key policy ideas to help realize the benefits of AI while mitigating the risks. 💡 Presentation Materials—Resources to address key AI in education issues and present policy ideas. --- Special thanks are in order for both Pam Vimonmas Vachatimanont and Pat Yongpradit for their leadership and stewardship, and for the opportunity to serve on this great committee. The Human Touch: What AI Can't Achieve in Special Education AI is transforming the landscape of education, offering personalized learning paths, data-driven insights, and efficient administrative tasks. However, when it comes to special education, there are nuances that AI simply cannot replicate. The emotional intelligence, empathy, and adaptability required to support students with diverse needs go beyond what algorithms can compute. Teachers and caregivers play a critical role in understanding the unique challenges and strengths of each student, fostering relationships, and creating safe, nurturing environments. While AI can assist, it's the human touch that ensures every child feels valued, understood, and supported in their learning journey. In special education, technology is a tool—but it’s the educators who make the real difference. #SpeacialEducation #SpecialNeeds #HumanTeachervsAI #SpecialEducationTeachers #EmotionalIntelligence #EIvsAI
