attention ‼️🚨 if your city relies on car traffic as a solution to its economy you dont have an econ dev problem you have a car problem. never enough takes about congestion pricing. never enough productive organizing around this issue. never enough rallies. we’ve got to bully this nebulous “car lobby” forever. drivers are not a protected class; they do not have a right to the space we all share by fiat or law; true freedom is choice. how is it that EVERY single one of the decision makers here don’t know this? how about we run our national politics on great works and strong communities instead of fighting against things we don’t like? when was the last time any of these long island congressmen did anything of note at all except be against congestion pricing? where were they when we opened east side access with NO upzoning around the port washington line stops? where were they when we begged for this policy that’s going to save lives and time for everyone? — drivers and non drivers? nowhere. nj governor concern trolling for his morristown elite constituency. ny governor still plans to fund the bills stadium with my money. i’ll ask the question right back—what do I get? where are our billionaires begging the governor to fund transit (rockefeller style)? why does this city want for anything except more cops? what do i get? i’m mad and you should be. keep fighting. #congestionpricing #CBDT #MTA #boycotthochul #boycottnewjersey #subways #NYCT #transportationplanning

Food Banks could certainly use a lot more funding. Introduce more facilties to help addicts get off drugs, re-integration through working and homing while in recovery and after until they can leave and go out on their own and blend back into society. That might be nice, in fact wonderful before buying back the highway or putting money which doesn't really benefit citizens that much, more like for show than necessity. Who knows, some people do have ideas. 🤔💭🤔 Fix and clean up all of Ontario before buying a highway. Can't remember how long it is, maybe just pay the tariffs for a while. Might help with traffic congestion, it's pretty wild and crazy now on the highways the closer you get to Toronto just from the far away outskirts, east or west depending which way you are coming or going. 🤔💭🤔

Gov. Hochul is floating a plan to delay the long-awaited congestion tolls on drivers in part of Manhattan and possibly replace the lost revenue — projected to be $1 billion — with a tax on New York City businesses, according to six people briefed on the plan. Hochul is making the proposal less than a month before the years-in-the-making congestion pricing program is set to begin. The tolls, set to be start on June 30, would include a $15 base fare for drivers traveling below 60th Street in Lower Manhattan. The move comes as the congestion pricing program have become a key issue in congressional districts in the New York City suburbs, a crucial battleground that could help determine control of the House of Representatives. https://lnkd.in/ejFZQddG

Backdoor Government Controls -  Liberals are applauding NYC for being the first US city to charge drivers to cross certain streets in the inner city to “control traffic and lessen congestion.” However, it is another step to control people’s freedom of movement and, eventually, their commerce and property rights. Government plans for mass transportation, and community planning are plans to control society. If you control people’s movements, you can control where they live, work, and play. Saving the environment is at the heart of the government’s transportation and community plans. The government should stand out of the way and let the free market create communities with whatever needs and services they need. The government should provide only common, essential public services that serve all people, not just certain people. Individual economic and political freedoms are not their concerns. More control over movement ultimately means less personal freedom.

These new guidelines sound like a good start but local adoption and enforcement will be key. #completestreets #transportation. Lots of work yet to be done.
