This is a great bit of technology. Having been in the 'red' zone for a riser pull, this will make a huge difference to the team. One thing to watch out for is maintaining skills for doing it manually though. As a few other people have said, the robotics will occasionally fail and the team will need to cover. It's natural for skills to fade if they are not being used regularly and that could lead to problems in the future. Training and practice for the manual operation will need to be maintained. Well done to everyone involved!

I remember running riser for several days as a Floorhand running the clover HR-33 torque tool on an air hoist and spring to allow you to lift on and off the flange. Plus installing these riser bolts. Up and down on the riser spider itself caused safety issues slipping, pinch points and back injuries. I’m 44 yrs old now and sure some of my aches and pains in the morning stem from long riser runs 20yrs ago. Nice to see this type of technology.
