Sustainable workspace design embodies function, aesthetics & performance. Thinking differently creates different results. As flexible workspaces become the norm, mobile furniture and de-constructible design elements become more prominent. Demountable partitions, movable walls, or partitions minimize material waste during demolition and construction and promote adaptability, allowing spaces to evolve with changing needs without requiring extensive renovations. Glass walls can significantly change the look of a space while also making more natural light available across the entire workspace. Elongating the life cycle of products and materials significantly reduces the environmental impact of construction waste, which is estimated to exceed 145 million tons annually in the US. By recycling materials, we can prevent the release of harmful chemicals and toxins into the environment and destroying air, soil, and water resources. #CNYOF #flexibleworkspace #reducereuserecycle

🌍 Modernising for a Sustainable Future 🏢✨ While we're reflecting on our recent projects, it’s a good opportunity to highlight the importance of modernising serviced office facilities to attract new tenants. Why Modernise? 1. Attracting New Tenants: Modern, well-designed office spaces are more attractive to potential tenants, providing them with the amenities and infrastructure needed for today’s business demands. 2. Enhancing EPC Ratings: Improving Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) is crucial. The UK government’s scheme to reduce emission levels sets clear targets for building performance. By modernising office spaces, we can significantly enhance EPC ratings, making buildings more energy-efficient and cost-effective to run. 3. Sustainability Benefits: Upgrading facilities not only meets regulatory requirements but also contributes to the sustainability of our planet. Reduced emissions mean a smaller carbon footprint, aligning with global efforts to combat climate change. Our work focuses on these essential aspects. By upgrading the building’s interior finishes and infrastructure, and implementing energy-efficient systems, we’re not only creating appealing spaces but also ensuring they are future-ready and environmentally responsible. At Terrell, we believe in delivering projects that balance aesthetic appeal with sustainability, providing long-term benefits for both our clients and the planet. #ModernWorkspaces #EPCImprovement #SustainableDesign #TenantAttraction #OfficeRefurbishment #TerrellInteriors #EcoFriendly #renovation #workplacedesign #designandbuild #interiorfitout #officeinteriors #refurbishment #commercialinteriors #commercial #designer #commercialfitout #interiors #officefitout #officedesign #fitoutinteriors

This is my office - The Hut, and there's a pretty good story behind it. Tucked among hundreds of hectares of Northland native forest (four of which are owned by my partner and I), we designed and built this little off-grid cabin about 8 years ago as our first home. Having just moved from Wellington, as a couple of shiny & glossy eyed city graduates, we had a dream of immersing ourselves in nature and minimising our impact as much as possible - this was our answer. It's 8.64 square meters (the dimensions of three sheets of ply), and built from reclaimed and/or seconds materials. Back then, those 8.64 off-grid square meters was our kitchen, bedroom, living room, dining room, everything! (Except bathroom - we had an outdoor cold shower and a composting loo). As you can imagine, we spent a LOT of time outside. The Hut was home for us for about 5 years, until we had kids/our family out-grew it and we built "The Big House" - our 42 square meter home in the same forest. That's when The Hut became my office. It was a great experiment in living close to nature, really minimising your impact, and living with only what you need (as opposed to want). We learned a LOT in those 5 years... particularly about how to live genuinely according to your values. Long story short, an experience like that, and the lessons we learned, form a huge part of what enables me to design the way I do. The highlights, for me, are: 1. First hand experience living so closely with nature makes you really aware of the opportunities that nature offers to architecture - particularly around passive design. 2. Living off-grid, when you're constantly monitoring your energy usage, is an excellent way to learn how to design for energy efficiency. 3. Minimising your impact to that degree really teaches you a lot about sustainabiility. 4. Being immersed in a healthy ecosystem really helps you see the value that it adds to life, why it's healthy to have connections with nature, and why we need to protect it. #nzarchitecture #sustainablearchitecture #natureconnections

Office moss walls serve as innovative and aesthetically pleasing elements that bring nature indoors while offering numerous benefits to the workspace environment. 💚 These walls, often comprised of preserved moss, contribute to improved air quality by absorbing pollutants and releasing oxygen, promoting a healthier indoor atmosphere. Additionally, they introduce biophilic design principles, connecting occupants with nature and reducing stress levels while enhancing overall well-being and productivity. #climatechange #savetheplanet #officespace #sustainability #workspace #ecofriendly #officedesign #eco #sustainable #sustainableliving #workplace #InclineSpace #WorkspaceDesign #OfficeTransformation #CreativeCollaboration #DesignInnovation #ElevateYourSpace #SustainableDesign #ModernOffice #InspiredInteriors #InnovationInDesign #WorkplaceWellness #OfficeAesthetics #CollaborativeSpaces #TransformativeDesign #DreamSpaces #belfast #northernireland
