I wholeheartedly agree Trevor…Whilst retirement is a few years away yet I took the step to get back to a fitness level that will help me in my old age. Walking 5-6 miles per day and visiting a personal trainer 3-4 times per week. I am already seeing the benefits of more energy and definitely more flexibility. I had resigned myself to continuing to suffer from, at times, debilitating lower back pain but have turned a corner and now realise I can at least pause old Father Time. The additional benefit is that I can again put my socks on without having to sit down and for me that’s a win 🤪 Keep up the great vlogs it has become one of my go to’s when I need to remember the progress I have made..
Totally with you Trevor. Much as I enjoy the cycling and dog walks (I still do loads of both) my motivation is trying to ensure a long, healthy retirement as well as embracing the here-and-now. I've also minimised my alcohol intake, not least because there are so many good low and zero alcohol beers available. My local pub has six (!) and always one on tap. Work is fine by the way, but I'm already taking my foot off the gas and aiming to retire in the next five years. Hope all's well with you.
Insightful
Well said Trevor. I’m huge on this. Control the controlables. You just don’t know what’s in front of you. And who wants to retire at 66? Retire when you’re younger, fitter and healthier so you can enjoy it to its fullest. Think of it like that and then you realise that finance is just one component of the whole jigsaw.
Absolutely agree that we need to look after our health so that we can enjoy our retirement and old age. Sometimes though, health issues are unavoidable. It’s only recently sunken in how important it is to prioritise the things you really want to do, NOW. You might not be able to do it later.
Love this mate - the insights you have provided me has had a huge impact on myself and those I support 👊💪
Agree with you are saying Trevor …. Spot on
Spot on Trevor. I think everyone thinks they will retire in good health!
Retired
4moI agree , I retired early ( 61) I’m now 63. I have a son in Australia and a daughter in Cornwall, my wife still works ( 2 days a week) , we are fortunate enough to be able to go and see both on a fairly regular basis , so travel is important , I keep healthy by going to the gym 4 times a week so my morning is covered and I play Golf at weekend.
