Here are some DO's and Dont's. ✅ Tailor your resume for specific job posting, highlighting your skills and experiences. ✅ Must add a career highlight section on the top with 2-3 bullet pointers positioning you for the job. ✅ Demonstrate a good fit to the organisation, go through the about section of the company and skim through for a better understanding . ✅ No Experience? no problem, showcase your projects and extra curricular activities (such as volunteering or certificate). ✅ Apply as soon as possible, resumes get screened on day to day basis. ❌ Dont just apply to all or any job postings, stick to a domain or an area of expertise i.e. Tech and Non-Tech roles. Applying to all positions might come out wrong to the recruiters, which will lower your chances of getting selected. All the best!! We discussed recent earnings announcements and the Federal Reserve’s impact on markets! It was an excellent way for me to connect with the students and remind me of the importance of financial literacy! Wall Street Bound is a non-profit organization that strives to empower young people of color to become agents of change and advance diversity within the financial services industry. This organization accomplishes this mission with two strategies. The first strategy is providing college students a comprehensive virtual or on-campus program led by experienced industry professionals. At the completion of these programs, the students are prepared for internships or hiring opportunities in the finance industry. The second strategy is their partnerships with corporations. I'll be honest, I don't know if this is typical or not - my gut says no - but this is clearly a company that truly believes each of those people is part of the San Francisco 49ers team. They don't play on the field, but this shows these individuals that you believe their work helped the team accomplish its goals. This is a great example of inclusive organizational #leadership! While it’s not always possible to fly every FTE to every event, I applaud the 49ers for setting an example here — especially in the era of hyper-segmentation and favoritism amongst teams. Finding a way to acknowledge the contribution of all employees, whenever possible, goes a long way toward reducing silos, decreasing intra-office resentment, creating healthy workplace culture, and motivating folks to do their best work. #Superbowl #inclusion #culture #belonging

Meet Tyriah Callwood! "Growing up I remember listening to my parents tell me about the importance of financial security. I saw firsthand the impact of drowning in debt and before I knew what debt was, I was taught not to be in it. While watching my parents struggle to make ends meet for a family of 6, I always knew I wanted to help but was never sure how to. My family like many other families struggled with financial literacy.   My love for finance started as a wide-eyed high school freshman at 15. At that time, I had begun my very first internship as a student teller for a local credit union in my hometown Jacksonville, Florida. Through a partnership with my high school, I offered financial services to my peers, many of which had just entered the workforce. I watched them cash their first checks and helped them open their first checking accounts, some even getting their first auto loans. Having the privilege to share in these monumental moments developed my passion for helping people in the areas that matter most, their finances.   While in college, I took my experience on to lead financial literacy lectures for audiences ranging from elementary school students to college graduates. Seeing their faces light up in excitement as I spoke time and time again reassured me that this is the way I want to bring value to the world around me. My next internship as a freshman in college is what helped to pivot my transition to Fidelity Investments! While here, I've been able to meet and share ideas with some of the most amazing leaders and colleagues. Most importantly, I've been able to help my family find solutions to help improve their financial lives.   My career goals and aspirations have been poured into in ways I could once only dream of. As a Relationship Manager, every day that I help bring financial security to others gives me the same joy and excitement I first felt long ago." 🎓 December Commencement at USF: Rodrigo Bueno de Los Santos graduates this week, a semester early, with a degree in finance, an economics minor, and a full-time job as an investment banking analyst for Bank of America in New York. Bueno de Los Santos, who played on the soccer team, talks about how USF prepared him for a career. 💭 What were your internships like? Last year, I interned at a private equity firm in San Francisco called VMG Partners. It gave me the foundation of the finance world, and I learned a lot. It was a professional environment, but the majority of the people working there were young so I could see how finance professionals worked and interacted with other colleagues. After my internship with VMG, I applied to a bunch of banks for an investment banking internship this summer and went through 10 interviews. I ended up choosing Bank of America in New York. 💭 What was the internship at Bank of America like? That internship was much more demanding. I got in every day at 8:40 a.m. and I did not know what time I was going to leave. It was a different perspective. I’m glad I did it, because it was out of my comfort zone and that’s the only way I’m going to grow. I was trying to get a full-time offer, so I was really trying to give my best effort every day. In the end, I did get a full-time offer from Bank of America to work in investment banking in New York. 💭 How has USF prepared you as a working professional? The entrepreneurial finance class helped me, because it’s about making a lot of presentations and today I have to make a lot of presentations. My finance classes also helped introduce me to the foundations and the formulas. One thing that really helped me, though, were my friends and classmates. We got together and practiced interviewing with each other. It was nice and helpful because everyone benefitted.
