Why is providing #healthcarecosts information earlier in the process so important? Because high or unaffordable out-of-pocket costs is the primary reason many patients don’t take medications as prescribed. In fact, up to 37% of prescriptions are never filled due to cost. Many providers don't find out about the issue until the patient comes in for their next appointment. Technology—like real-time benefit check (RTBC), that enables prescription #pricetransparency, and often provides cheaper alternatives, ultimately benefits patients, providers, payers, and pharma by driving down health care costs and increasing patient access to prescribed therapies. Well here’s a problem getting fixed. Just tell people what their medicine will cost when it is actually prescribed AND BEFORE the doctor sends the script to the pharmacy the prescribers are alerted there is another medicine just like the one they picked that just happens to be way cheaper because of who the patient’s PBM happens to be (and much of the time) actually with no copay AND no prior authorization required (best way to automate prior auth is to avoid it in the first place). Sounds simple enough. Only took ten years to get this wired up. #Youdontfailfastinhealthcareyousucceedslow(tm). Arrive health does this around 15 million times a month. People get their medication they need and money saved. Winners all around.
