Exciting news, everyone! Today, we at thrively sealed the deal on a retained search for a Chief Revenue Officer! But here's the kicker – instead of just sending a standard email to celebrate, I decided to add a splash of fun (literally)! So, I took a plunge into my freezing cold pool and sent a video of the moment to the CEO, Head of TA, and lead VC. Why? Because life's too short not to inject a bit of silliness into the serious stuff. At thrively, we believe in being unapologetically ourselves, even if it means jumping into a pool in February! It's all about embracing our core value: Cultivate Vulnerability. As Brené Brown beautifully puts it, "Vulnerability is the birthplace of love, belonging, joy, courage, empathy, and creativity." So here's a reminder to y'all: be authentic, take risks, be you, don't apologize, and never forget to have some fun along the way. Work hard, play harder, and let's make every moment count! #BeYourself #WorkHardPlayHard #HighThrive #Relentless

Many out there are eager to see 2023 come to a close. On the logistics & transportation side, we have experienced quite the ‘freight recession’ with shipping rates dipping to an artificial low off of the COVID highs. Beyond that, many other industries have experienced layoffs, troubling bottom-line results, and economic pressures that have largely been conflicting (soft landing???) Professionally, these things have contributed to 2023 being a year of large growth. But, it’s sort of hard to not grow when macro circumstances force you to! However, the reason I’ll hold 2023 dear to me is because this was the year I became a father! My wife and I welcomed our son in June & I’m not sure there’s a course, training, or experience out there that could help me grow more than fatherhood has. Parenthood forces you to love selflessly. You have to take care of someone who physically can’t survive without you. Just 6 months in, this has me thinking about things differently than I used to. In general, I’m more patient, empathetic, and I’ve been humbled 100x over as well. So, while 2023 was tough & many are ready to close the door - I’m a little sad to see it go. But I am equally as excited to welcome 2024! New priorities and goals, watching my son grow, and hopefully growing myself a bit (with maybe a few more naps). Cheers to the new year!

2023 came with a lot of unexpected twists, turns, and challenges. It also came with even more unanticipated moments of joy, love, and achievement. Last night my wife and I took some time to look back on goals and prayers we had for 2023. We never would have planned on layoffs that immediately changed all other goals and plans for 2023--and we found we had a lot to be thankful for. In fact, it made me excited to step into 2024 not knowing what is coming our way. Oh, we have goals and plans, and we're building the systems so we can give ourselves the best chance at success, but I'm also excited (almost giddy) about what I have no idea could come--what will come. In 2023, we launched CoPort and consulting, now I have 2 paying customers, and a healthy pipeline for Q1! In 2023, I made a goal to run 600 miles, I ended with 759.68! In 2023, I set a goal to ready 52 books, I ended with 73! I set goals in dates with my wife, attending a conference, teaching a course/class, time with kids, investing in community, serving at my local church, strengthening my mind and body, and camping, among others. And I'm amazed at all we accomplished. It taught me a lot this year about my ability to set goals, and build the systems to make it possible. In fact, I was able to accomplish a lot more than I thought was possible! We're excited for what 2024 holds. It's a new year, and new opportunities await. Here's to a new year, with many exciting adventures awaiting. I can't wait to see all that is in store and celebrating with you all along the way. #newyear #2024goals #entrepreneur #onwardsandupwards #partnerships #opportunities #newyeargoals

Nine years ago today, I set out to do the impossible - sell a product that no one knew about, to a market that didn't know it needed it. All I had was a brand name. No property, no staff, no systems and, having sold my share of another business with a long term payout plan, I had very little money too. What I had plenty of was determination. Having failed to convince friends and family that this product had potential and, having been told that there was no market for it, I had a point to prove. Within weeks, we had wins with two big national companies which gave us a real shot in the arm. They saw the value of what we were offering, saw that we believed in our product and took a chance. Both of those Zappshelters are still standing today, as good as new. The words of Dr. Seuss spring to mind You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the guy who'll decide where to go. The best time to give something a go is now. #Zappshelter #9years #anniversary #growth #familybusiness #protectwhatmatters

As the curtains fall on 2023, I find myself in deep thought, reflecting on the twists and turns that shaped my journey this year. 1. Work: The highlight of my year was launching Mpowered Staffing LLC. Founding the company isn't about claiming uniqueness; it's about facilitating crucial connections in accounting and finance, reshaping careers, and enhancing work-life situations for both clients and candidates. 2. Gratitude: Being a founder holds no special status, but the fulfillment derived from helping companies find vital talent and individuals enhance their professional lives is immensely significant to me. It's a journey fueled by purpose and shared success. 3. Family: The support from my loved ones has been an uplifting force that propelled the success of 2023. Plus, the anticipation of welcoming a baby boy added a special and exciting dimension to this year. Cheers to all those who have held a place in my journey this year. May you continue to experience happiness, while achieving your wildest goals in 2024 and beyond! 🥂

If 2023 was your story, how would you narrate it? 🤔 As 2023 draws to a close, let’s take a moment to reflect. Imagine starting the year knowing every professional hurdle you'd face: a sudden layoff, investment ventures not panning out, or even that long-awaited promotion. What if, back in January, you were told, "Brace for an unexpected career shift in March, investment setbacks in July, and a major professional decision in September"? The prospect might have seemed overwhelming, even insurmountable. 🌀🧳 Yet, here you stand at year's end, not just as a survivor but a navigator of these uncharted waters. Despite the layoffs, you found new opportunities. Where investments faltered, lessons were learned. And that promotion? It was perhaps the silver lining in a year of relentless challenges. This year has been a testament to your resilience, adaptability, and unyielding determination. It’s shown that no matter the uncertainty, you have the grit to turn professional challenges into stepping stones for growth and success. 💼🚀 As we gear up for 2024, carry this resilience with you. The challenges of 2023 have equipped us to face the future with confidence, knowing that we can, and will, adapt and thrive through whatever comes our way. #Engineersthatinvest

Happy New Year! Is it, though? We need to talk about 2024. Of course, we wish you a Happy New Year but let's face it, it's going to be another year of doing more with less. We're not officially in recession but that doesn't mean that things aren't hard and that resources and people are stretched. Again. And yet the targets keep coming. You need to do something different - something that won't put more pressuure on people - but what lever can you pull? Here's something: your teams are probably not working as well as they could. Turning a group of people into a team can unlock 20% performance and, time after time, our clients are getting double-digit outcomes. All without working harder - just a little more together. Now that makes for a Happy New Year! Spend three minutes of your 2024 watching the video below and let us know if you'd like a chat. https://lnkd.in/ei7pyDeD

Let's start the year with some vulnerability, shall we? Reflecting on 2023, our debut year at LeadSpot was, well, let's say... character-building. 🤦♂️ We fell short of our projections by a mile, created more chaos than a cat in a room of rocking chairs, and spent cash on things we thought were the Holy Grail but turned out to be glorified paperweights. To top it off, we had a revenue rollercoaster—60% nosedive in just 45 days thanks to the whims of client layoffs and budget vanishing acts. And oh, the learning curve? Let's just say it felt more like a learning cliff. Our (my) strategies often missed the mark, our audience taught us a thing or two about what they really wanted (and what they absolutely didn't!), and LinkedIn? Well, let's just say I've had a humbling education, courtesy of some smarter folks whose intellect I should never have dared to challenge. Our website traffic? Let's just pretend it was taking a sabbatical. 😬 Yet, despite this colossal mess, we did something right—we made it across the finish line. We limped, stumbled, and occasionally face-planted, but we made it. And along the way, we gathered an encyclopedia of lessons from our failures, generously supplemented by the brilliant minds of LinkedIn who graciously shared their wisdom and experience. So here we stand, battered but not beaten, bruised but not broken. As we turn the page to 2024, LeadSpot's spirit remains undeterred. We're armed with hard-earned knowledge, a thicker skin, and an undeterred focus to tackle whatever this new year throws our way. Because hey, what's success without a few good battle scars, right? Cheers to all of those who are persisting, evolving, and turning 2024 into the year that we flaunt our resilience - because, let's face it, setbacks are just plot twists in this winding journey. Good luck everyone!! #resilience #2024goals #gritandgrace

Marketing Leader & Storyteller | 20+ Years Elevating Brands with Innovative Strategies, Captivating Content & Dynamic Partnerships
Come Back! That's Something to Think About... In the turbulent sea of recent years, marked by a global pandemic and seismic shifts in the professional landscape, we find ourselves navigating through a dichotomy of experiences. While some have found excitement and opportunity in the chaos, for others, it has been a period of profound challenges and unexpected detours. The Unseen Struggles: Navigating Through Disasters The echoes of massive layoffs by tech giants and the relentless waves of uncertainty have left an indelible mark on the professional world. The aftermath of the pandemic has become a narrative of resilience, adaptation, and, for some, a desperate plea for a comeback. A Personal Journey Through the Storm As we reflect on these times, it's impossible to ignore the personal stories that have unfolded. Lives disrupted, careers rerouted, and dreams momentarily deferred. The journey through this storm has been a test of character, revealing the true essence of resilience. The Dichotomy of Experience For some, the past few years have been a canvas for innovation and reinvention. Start-ups have emerged, industries have pivoted, and individuals have discovered new facets of their capabilities. On the flip side, it has been a period of reckoning for those navigating the aftermath of layoffs and economic downturns. The Call to Return: A Beacon of Hope In the midst of these contrasting experiences, there emerges a compelling call to come back. Whether it's a return to a profession left behind, a comeback from setbacks, or a resurgence from the depths of adversity, the notion of "come back" becomes a rallying cry for those seeking to rebuild, re-establish, and reignite their paths. Rediscovering Purpose and Passion A comeback isn't just a return to the familiar; it's an opportunity to redefine one's trajectory. It's about rediscovering purpose and reigniting passion. The narrative of a comeback isn't confined to professional spheres; it extends to personal aspirations, unfulfilled dreams, and the pursuit of a more fulfilling life. Embracing the Journey Ahead As we contemplate the notion of coming back, it's essential to recognize that the journey forward is as significant as the destination. The challenges encountered during the comeback become the stepping stones to growth, resilience, and a newfound appreciation for the journey. In the chapters that follow, we'll delve deeper into the stories of comebacks - from the tech corridors to personal aspirations. We'll explore the strategies employed, the lessons learned, and the triumphs that emerge from the crucible of adversity. So, fasten your seatbelts as we embark on a journey through the comeback stories that inspire and ignite the spirit. Stay tuned for tales of resilience, reinvention, and the triumph of the human spirit in the face of challenges. I invite my friends on LinkedIn to share their experiences here for all of us.
