After determining oversized vehicles cannot safely travel the century-old Zion-Mount Carmel Highway, the National Park Service will implement a rerouting plan in mid-2026. The park service has observed that motorcoaches, RVs, travel trailers, and other similar large vehicles cannot use the road without crossing the center line and are exceeding the weight limits for the highway's multiple historical bridges. These vehicles also cannot pass through the Zion-Mount Carmel Tunnel without halting oncoming traffic. (The tunnel's escorted hours for the remainder of 2024 and 2025 will be the same: 8 a.m.– 4:30 p.m. The NPS website provides more info concerning the tunnel here: https://lnkd.in/eiySpEAN.) Oversized vehicles will still be able to access Zion National Park, but they they must follow alternate routes to enter and travel throughout the park. NTA has been in conversation with park and state officials, providing tour operator and motorcoach operator perspectives to make this change as minimally disruptive as possible. September 23rd – 29th is #RailSafetyWeek. Trains are faster and quieter than you might expect, that’s why railway crossings are designed to get your attention. Don’t get distracted, look, listen and live. #STOPTrackTragedies #RailSafety #StayAlert #MDofTaber

About 20-25 years ago some work was done in Melbourne's inner north to improve passenger information on bus Route 508 between Moonee Ponds and Alphington. Remnants of this remain, surviving both Metlink and PTV rebranding. Route 508 intersects many north-south train, tram and bus corridors making it an excellent 'network completing' connector route. Route 508's current frequency is every 15 min peak, 20 min interpeak, 30 min Saturdays and 40 min Sundays but a strong case exists for it to be higher. Further background on Route 508 is here: https://lnkd.in/gS4XS-yZ

Safety first! There are no medals for crossing this line, but staying behind the yellow line at railway stations keeps you in the race. Always stay behind yellow lines at railway stations to stay safe from departing and passing trains. Only enter or exit a station platform at the designated areas. #StaySafeAndStandBack
