Biotech is not 'new-news' but is the lens in which we now value both sustainable and scientific validation. One of the biggest advantages of biotechnology for skin-care ingredient creation is the ability to create new, novel molecules that aid the skin. It can also boost ingredient volume and purity while decreasing the environmental impact of its sourcing. But messaging the value of synthetic ingredients to consumers accustomed to a natural-is-better approach to skin care is an ongoing challenge for beauty brands using biotech ingredients, and there is a growing number. According to market research company Grand View Research, the global biotech ingredients market size was $1.61 billion in 2019, and it’s expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 9.3% to reach $3.01 billion in 2027. So glad that so many diverse markets appreciate this positive trend, the advancement of technologies in a truly conscious and responsible fashion.

As sustainability becomes a growing concern in the cosmetic industry, it's essential to assess the sustainability of ingredients used (INCIs). I've been recently diving into their sustainability through the lens of green chemistry. Specially the 10th principle : - 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐮𝐬𝐞. Wondering - is there a tool or app highlighting how many ingredients in the INCI list are biodegradable or persistent? As we continue to prioritize sustainability in the beauty and personal care industry, it is essential to be able to assess it effectively #sustainability #greencosmetics #greenchemistry #cosmeticsustainability #sustainability #greenchemistry #beauty #pharmaceuticals InFLOWS AI

Brand & Marketing Director, ex-L'Oréal & Beiersdorf | Brand, Marketing & Business Strategy | Helping visionary beauty, luxury, wellness brands & founders to build brand equity to drive 8-figure Growth ✨
💥'In beauty, the opposite of clean is not dirty. It is science.' → Super clever opinion piece of Joshua Britton x BeautyMatter highlighting 'the cracks in the clean beauty movement', with a clear solution for transparency & clarity: science and more 'Biotechnology'. → The article also hints at standards of operating excellence that every beauty brand should thrive for: 'ingredient safety and traceability, quality, consistency, performance, and sustainability.' ✅ Aligning all brands on these standards could be a good place to start, moving forward.
Thank you very much to Kelly Kovack and BeautyMatter for publishing my opinion piece on clean beauty titled: “In Beauty, The Opposite of Clean is Not Dirty, It’s Science”. Unlike clean beauty, which is riddled with cleanwashing claims, there can be no “biotech-washing” with biotech beauty. Biotechnology is underpinned by science, rigorous clinical testing, and manufacturing standards that have pharma-like precision and data credibility. There is zero margin for marketing interpretation or spin. Moreover, the regulatory landscape will always favor biotech over cultivation or petroleum-based methods because safety, purity, consistency, and quality are hardwired in the way we manufacture ingredients. We are entering a new era in beauty that has no place for cleanwashing. Biotechnology is beauty’s new frontier and Debut is leading the next industrial transformation in beauty! #biotechnology #biotechbeauty #beautyindustry #cleanbeauty #sustainability #beauty #innovation #skincare #cosmetics #futureofbeauty #precisionbeauty #sciencebackedbeauty

"Data from the market intelligence company Mintel's Global New Product's Database (GNPD) showed that between January and May 2024, less than half (46%) of global beauty and personal care CPG launches were genuinely new products." This new term is now floating around: "renovation" - line extensions, reformulations, repackaging or relaunching. Mintel I'd love to know how many of these "renovations" are actually to improve on sustainability, and in those cases, doesn't reformulating a best-selling heritage product into cleaner, greener products made with renewable resources and more sustainable packaging count as some type of innovation?! https://lnkd.in/dpjE2mwN

Harm Reduction Specialist NCSCT trained Stop Smoking Practitioner NCSCT trained Mental Health Speciality
A few months ago I heard someone say that innovation in the vape space was done, that there was nothing more that could be done. I had to stifle a laugh. I knew what was about to happen. A new product category was about to be created. One that could help to convert millions of smokers to a less harmful alternative. Tobacco extract - All the flavour and experience of a cigarette but 95% less harmful. This product is better than any you have tried in the past,i know, a lot of people will claim that NET liquid has been around for a while. Not like this it hasnt!! A completely new device designed from the ground up to accept this specially created blend of flavinoids, you cant use this in a normal vape, only in Dinner Lady's new product. If you have not yet tried this, get to Dinner Lady's stand at Intertabac as fast as you can. And if you are in the vape or tobacconist space, you need to speak to the teaam or get left in the dust as others rocket ahead. Tobacco extract pods, the future has arrived for vapers.
