Thank you to Laura Powell and Kristi Royse for giving me a framework for employee reviews. We do not look at data. We do not discuss KPIs or closing rates. We do not even prepare for this meeting. (Not sure I got that part right, but I know people who have to prepare for their employee reviews - prove themselves up - and I find it irritating). Instead, using the terrific questions that focus on employee satisfaction and how I, the firm, and the team can best provide support, we had a terrific and deep discussion about the value of the work we do, what she loves in the work, where she struggles and, most importantly, potentional solutions for pain points. The #1 takeaway was a desire for more education - we talked about online CLEs, trade publications and local bar association events. We just completed a three day drafting bootcamp together and it was an inspiration. This is an example of Estate Planning With Heart. It's not a slogan, it is our mission and it starts with us.
