🔥𝐂𝐳𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐤𝐢 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬🔥 🔷A seed crystal of silicon is immersed in a molten silicon. 🔷The melt is maintained at around 1400 degrees Celsius in a quartz crucible. 🔷The seed crystal is slowly pulled upward while rotating. 🔷As it ascends, it induces the solidification of silicon from molten pool onto the seed. 🌟𝐂𝐳𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐤𝐢 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬:🌟 ⭐As the crystal grows, it adopts the same crystallographic orientation as the seed. ⭐This yields a single crystal with a controlled and uniform structure. ⭐The Czochralski process allows for precise doping of the crystal by introducing specific impurities during its growth. 𝗔𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵-𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘄𝗶𝗱𝘁𝗵 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘂𝗺 𝗙𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗼𝗱𝗲𝘀 High-bandwidth germanium photodiodes can now be fabricated using a simplified method that reduces complexity and thermal budget. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀 ‣ The new method reduces the Si region thickness from ~200 nm to ~50 nm, lowering the thermal budget significantly. ‣ Ion implantation for doping eliminates the need for multiple epitaxial steps, streamlining the fabrication process. ‣ Despite the simplified approach, the photodiodes still achieve 3-dB bandwidths exceeding 110 GHz, outperforming many current alternatives. We are sure you already know our Metal Molecules, the core of NANOGAP!  🫀 But do you know how they compare to metal nanoparticles or bulk metal? These are some of the factors that make them unique!  👉 Size wise, our M-Ms are approximately 0.5 nm in size, while nanoparticles are typically between 2 - 100nm, while bulk metal is considered above 100nm. 👉 M-M have covalent bonding and confined electrons. Nanoparticles and bulk metals have metallic bonding with delocalized electrons - a completely different structure. 👉 Compared to bulk metal, nanoparticles have surface enhanced properties, whereas M-M have completely new size dependent properties.  These characteristics, among others, allow our Metal Molecules to exhibit unique properties never seen before including thermo, photo and electro-catalytic.
