Labour may be fighting a lost battle. Here are the reasons why. They may succeed in getting a raise in minimum wage, which most state governments and private employers won't pay, anyway. But the big elephant in the room will be left untouched; which is the excruciating burden of running a bicameral legislature, and their humongous wage bill, a bloated cabinet of 50, mostly useless ministers and very corrupt state governors. These are the issues that labour, in conjunction with civil society should team and mobilise the populace to mainstream and agitate for a change of the status quo!

Workers wages have lagged behind the cost of living for far too long - we need a national pay rise. Unite the Union's Workers' Manifesto is pushing to make it easier for workers across all sectors to negotiate pay and conditions with their employers. Along with the corporate greed and exploitative employment practices in the private sector, people working to keep our public services running are overdue a real-term pay increase as our services remain critically underfunded. Britain is broken, and it's clear that this government needs to go - so we need the Labour Party on board with fixing it. #UnitetheUnion #LabourParty #TheLabourParty #UKPolitics #UKGovernemnt

UK’s lowest-paid workers set for 6% minimum wage boost. Over a million low-paid workers across the UK are expected to see a wage increase of around 6 percent next year as the government plans to raise the national living wage to £12.10 an hour. The move, part of Labour’s pledge to introduce a “genuine living wage,” aims to alleviate financial pressures on workers, though it has sparked concerns among businesses... A really interesting debate. The wage increase is vitally important to all employees, but, for employers, an increase of ~ £1/hour is closing down small businesses. We don’t want to increase our prices - we have to keep #accessible but, it’s almost impossible with wage increases into thousands of pounds/year. https://lnkd.in/ePYEg-Af

Companies are now concentrating more on the 'Real Living Wage' instead of the 'National Living Wage.' This shift has come as a result of the need to retain staff from their competitors. This raises the question of whether the UK Government is being realistic in setting the NLW and whether they are doing companies a disservice by setting them up for a fall. Interesting times ahead for the UK job market. #RealLivingWage #NationalLivingWage #UKJobMarket #SalaryRetention
