When John Reyes, a HealthFitness associate, attended a Dallas Stars hockey game with his wife in 2023, he watched a short video that illustrated how the Stars partner with HopeKids, a non-profit which supports children battling cancer or a life-threatening medical condition. They were so inspired they now volunteer for HopeKids at 10 plus events each year. Most recently, during Trustmark Cares Community Week, they helped welcome guests and even played some pickleball with families at a HopeKids event at Chicken N Pickle. #LiveYourBeyond

Sometimes in the midst of trying to raise gowns, we forget how truly special it is to do what we do as a community. We have been the catalyst for change in hospitals! We created hospital gowns that allow kids to still be kids at a time when they deserve it most. We appreciate everyone who has contributed, spread the word, and offered words of support. Behind every gown is a child and at any moment it could be one of our own. When we know better, we must do better! 🙌 Your actions make a real difference in real time! Many children are still awaiting sponsors, and together we can help change their hospital stay. If you or your organization would like to get involved, we need all the support possible to help continue our movement. We are a small team making a big impact. Our short term goal: Raise 4,000 Brave Gowns by June 30th. Longer Goal: Raise 100K Brave Gowns by August 30th. This week is #VolunteersWeek - a chance to say thank you and celebrate our amazing volunteers. As a volunteer-run charity, everything we do is made possible by the kind support of our volunteers - from developing ideas and creating new resources, running awareness campaigns and research projects, providing support to families when they need it most, sending out our Little Box of Hope support packs, running webinars and events, liaising with schools and hospitals and the list goes on... It is all done by an amazing team of volunteers. Did you know that you don't need to go through the process of becoming an official volunteer with us if you wish to fundraise and raise awareness? You can still volunteer your time and energy without a long-term commitment to a certain number of hours a week by being flexible to suit you and still be able to support our work. You can do this by fundraising for Juvenile Arthritis Research or becoming a Community Champion in your local area by putting up awareness posters and looking for opportunities to speak about and nominate Juvenile Arthritis Research in your community. To fundraise for us, simply visit https://lnkd.in/eKrtSeaf To become a Community Champion to raise awareness in your area, email us to request posters that we can send you. Email kipo@jarproject.org Or if you can reliably commit several hours a week, every week to formally volunteer with us and support our core work, please contact Michelle@jarproject.org to find out more and start the application process. So this week we say a big THANK YOU to all of our volunteers and everyone who has supported our work through fundraising and raising awareness. We are so grateful to you and couldn't exist without you. #JIA #JuvenileArthritis #JuvenileIdiopathicArthritis #JuvenileArthritisResearch #Kipo #Arthritis #ChildhoodArthritis #ChronicIllness #AutoimmuneDisease #JARProject #JIAWarrior #ArthritisAwareness #charity #CharitableCause #NonProfit #Donate #Support #causes #fundraising #philanthropy #KidsWithArthritis #KidsGetArthritisToo #DontBeAloneWithJIA #InstaCharity #RaiseAwareness #ThinkJIA #AwarenessIsEverything #volunteer NCVO

What is the value of ”Take Your Daughter to Work Day? We think it is education and empathy, so the child knows what the parent does daily, but it is so much more. It instills lifelong work values. Meahgan Gibson attended a “Take Your Daughter to Work Day” at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. To this day she reminds me of a few choice words I stated during a staff meeting but she also pursued a career in Leisure and Hospitality. More importantly she picked up values like; everybody is critical to success (especially the lowest paid hourly associates), every person has a story, treat people with dignity and respect, and if they have a name tag, user their name. Grow by trying new things that others shy away from. Powerful words are “thank you” and “can you help me”, and assisting others even if you do not have time. Today this was in my feed. I had no idea she was working on this. Biscuits and socks, who knew? But more importantly, a young professional (from a generation many professionals belittle) leading a project that reflects well on the brand and does good for the community. Also hats off to Dennis Pfaff, Maple Street Biscuit Company and Cracker Barrel for creating an organization culture where young professional growth occurs. Take your daughter to work and as a leader, your relationships matter more than you know. #cio #leadership
TLDR: I've been working on something pretty cool! "The Maple Street Mantra: Help People, Serve Others, Be A Part Of The Community" is why I joined the team. I'm grateful to Maple Street Biscuit Company for allowing me to take on something so near and dear to who we are. *Maple Street Silly Socks* a portion of sock sales will go directly to LifeQuest Organ Recovery Services and U.F. Health, supporting their incredible work to maximize the Gift of Life through organ and tissue donation. This is particularly meaningful because giving back has always been a big part of who I am. From working with the Miami Children's Initiative during my time at the University of Florida to my work with the Harrison County Community Foundation, I've seen firsthand the impact we can make when we come together. Your support means the world and will help create positive change in our community. P.S. The socks are pretty cool as well https://lnkd.in/gKJnfwB6

Tech & Insights. Helpless foodie, coffee lover, and passionate linguist. Lvl 7 Google Maps Local Guide!
Hey my lovely LinkedIn Network, I can't believe I've surpassed $1,500 already, this was more than I would have hoped for! I want to thank everyone who has donated thus far. It has meant a lot to me and more importantly, it's helping improve the outcomes of thousands of Children worldwide (not just LA!). I'm shooting for $2,000 by July 21st (currently 83% of goal) and I know you can all help me reach it! We got 3 weeks to go until the big race, but it's never too late to make $1, $5, $10, or even $25 donation! Anything helps: https://lnkd.in/gu7cUwBj Last, but not least, I finally stacked my events together during my workouts, so these times include the collective pain & suffering. My biggest improvement has been swimming where I've seen almost 1:20 100m times. I believe simulating the actual race day along with open-ocean swims 2x per week will help me meet or exceed my benchmarks. Swim 750m: 15 minutes vs. 22 minute | Benchmark: 15 minutes Run 5K: 38 minutes vs. 32 previous | Benchmark: 30 minutes Bike 12K: 26 minutes vs. 28 previous | Benchmark: 40 minutes Overall: 79 minutes vs. 82 previous | Benchmark: 90 minutes Stay tuned for more updates!

Liability and Commercial Assets Insurance Specialist @ BFL CANADA | An Industry Preferred Technical Risk Management Architect Assembling Solutions and Flexible Programs for Medium and Large Business
It seems like this summer is filled with a lot of exciting projects and developments, from new construction builds and software rollouts to expanding core operations to serve a growing market. It's great to see this growth and optimism, especially after the uncertainty that has affected our businesses and lives in recent years. However, it's not just businesses that are seeing increased activity. Not-for-profit organizations are also facing more challenges with the same budget constraints and higher operating costs while still fulfilling the needs of those theybstrive to support. Organizations like the Cool Aid Society of Grande Prairie have dedicated teams working tirelessly to support their causes. For instance, the Cool Aid Youth Program underwent a significant facelift this year, thanks to the efforts of Barbara Feltham-Brentnall and her team. The infrastructure upgrade and the time invested by the staff and volunteers have resulted in engaging, fun, and educational summer camps for the kids. These programs not only enhance the lives of the children but also fulfill a crucial need in our community. With everyone being busy this summer, I urge you to consider supporting societal initiatives that help keep your community strong. Not-for-profits are facing rising costs, but support can come in many forms, such as sharing skills, providing art programs, donating day-to-day supplies, or offering career guidance. Even leftover supplies from construction projects can make a difference in these communities. Don't forget to lend a hand to organizations like these this summer. A little help can go a long way within your community, often in ways that have a lasting impact you wouldn't initially realise.
I continue to be astounded by the generosity of my community. Today, at Cool Aid Society, the youth center I am proud to be a part of, we received a dishwasher thanks to a generous donation from a private donor. Living in a community that supports each other fills me with gratitude. Thank you, Kirtis Siemens, for your generous support! #CommunitySupport #Gratitude #ThankYou
