Let's talk about the elephant in the luxury hotel ballroom: these so-called "women's empowerment events" that cost more than most women make in a week. You know the ones, high teas with designer cupcakes, networking brunches with three-figure tickets, and conferences where the price of admission could feed a family for a month. Now,here’s what bothers me to my core: We're packaging privilege as empowerment. When your "empowerment event" is only accessible to women who are already empowered, you're not lifting anyone up, you're just building a prettier penthouse on top of an existing tower. I recently asked women about their experiences at these events. The responses were telling: vague platitudes, recycled motivational quotes, and business cards exchanged over champagne. But where's the tangible impact? Where are the stories of women whose lives were genuinely transformed? The brutal truth? These events aren't designed for the women who need empowerment most: - Not for the single mother working two jobs - Not for the ambitious young woman from an underserved community - Not for the immigrant professional struggling to break into her field - Not for the countless women fighting daily battles against systemic barriers Instead, we've created an echo chamber of success stories talking to other success stories, while the women who could truly benefit from mentorship, resources, and opportunities remain locked outside, their faces pressed against the glass ceiling we claim to be shattering and peeping over the walls of your social media pages. Real empowerment isn't a ticket you can purchase. It's not a motivational speech in a five-star hotel. It's not a selfie with a successful CEO. Real empowerment is about creating accessible pathways to success, providing tangible skills, and offering concrete opportunities to women across all socioeconomic backgrounds. If you're organising these events, I challenge you to OPEN YOUR DOORS. Create scholarship programs. Take your wisdom to the communities that need it most. Stop hiding transformation behind a paywall. Because right now? We're not empowering women. We're selling exclusivity and calling it elevation. #Womeempowerment #TopWomen #Eventorganisers #Careerpaths #Glassceilings

You may not like to hear this, as a man, I do not think it is in our interest to try and empower women. To begin with, we can only empower someone who does not have power, so here I am, this generous and amazing soul, who recognises that there are people without power. Many times the so called "empowering" process starts with disempowering the other. Power in itself is not good nor bad, however, the relationship we choose to have with it, can be in many cases detrimental to society. Power is often used to achieve our own goals, in complete disregard for our community (and off course, it can also be used the other way round, more of this in a bit) And, my personal experience is that when women operate in an environment where there are no men, other dynamics emerge. The feedback I hear from those (women) who attend the monthly women connector event that we run in conjunction with Timea Kadar (when I say "we" I mean we co-promote and organise it, however, she is the one one who hosts it, the event is 100% for women and women only) is that a lot of co-operation arises. For some who join for the first time, there is a certain "I do not know what" that makes this event so special, and when I read the post events posts on Linkedin, I can feel a lot of empathy. And this is why I said at the beginning that generally speaking, it is not helping me, as a man, to operate from a mindset of "I am going to empower you" in general, and even more so with those who attend the #womenconnector event. I find it is much more in my interest to help creating the set up for women to get together, step out, and learn, be a student, an observer, see what I can "take" from that, and most of the time it is a bigger drive towards co-operation, growing together, building and being part of a community and much more. So, if you are a woman who resonates with all this, why not joining the next #womenconnector event on 20th May ? Here is the link for the registration https://lnkd.in/d4Dznhbp And if you are a man, join me me on the sidelines, we won't be able to join, but we can refer and tag women in our network who we think would like to attend the event.

Yesterday I did something terrifying. Something out of character for the person I have become during these last few years as “mum”. The old me, the corporate me, did this stuff all the time. Yesterday I went to a women’s networking event. A networking event that was initiated by me and a couple of kickass women in my community. A networking event that was dreamed up over a cup of coffee and a realisation that so many of us entrepreneurial women quietly existed in the confines of our home offices in our rural, beachside community. Going quietly stir-crazy with a hint of desperation to connect with other like-minded women. Yet at the same time, not knowing that we needed to connect with other like-minded women. We were hoping to gather together a small handful of women to meet for coffee every month. To share our businesses, to share our learnings, inspire each other, help each other, and to build a network we could rely upon. But we didn’t manage the “small handful” we were hoping for. Instead, we had nearly 40 women reach out asking to join. 👏 FORTY! 👏 Forty incredibly talented women in our very small community all running their own businesses from their homes. Juggling their workload of kids, farming, orcharding, full-time jobs…and running their own businesses. There were many familiar faces from school, sports, community events, and so on. But never would I have ever known that these ladies also ran their own successful businesses. But now I do. Because I reached out to them. Because I got out of my comfort zone to make human connections. I now have 39 other women and their businesses standing with me. Referring my business when the opportunity arises. And I’ll share theirs. Heck, I even plan to be a customer for many of them! Never underestimate the power of a strong network. Never underestimate the power of human connection. Never underestimate the power of women in business 👊🏻 Because we don't muck around. We have neither the time nor the energy for it. #WomenInBusiness #Networking #Empowerment #WomenSupportingWomen #BusinessNetwork #CareerGrowth #WomenInLeadership #NetworkingEvents #ProfessionalGrowth #WomenEmpowerment #StrongNetworks #BusinessSuccess

It's an honor to be among Joanie Parsons RevelEleven Events + Retreats 2024 Speaker Community! As a Certified Master Life Coach specializing in (often) complicated, critical Mother-Daughter Relationships, my mission is directly aligned with RevelEleven Events + Retreats. In my practice, I help women gain clarity, heal wounds, internal pain/conflict/struggle and break unhealthy attachments. I educate my clients on essential relationship fundamentals--many of which were never learned--so they can end dysfunctional relationships and create healthy, functional ones. My clients achieve: - inner peace, trust & confidence - emotional resilience - self-prioritization & self-compassion - freedom & self-empowerment - healthy relationships (incuding the one with themselves) - clarity on their role in raising (and how to raise) healthy, secure daughters and children - and more I started my personal growth journey at age 19, healed my dysfunctional beliefs, thoughts, patterns and upbringing wounds. I also healed my relationship with my mother. I switched careers in 2022 to put my life's work and passion into greater use, make a bigger impact and help others achieve what I have--a transformed life. We all deserve to live a healthy, empowered life. It comes down to choosing it.
For years, RevelEleven Events + Retreats has been championing the idea that women will—no, make that are—changing the world. From boardrooms to classrooms, playing fields to politics, women are leading the way. #KamalaHarris has dramatically changed and re-energized the presidential election. #SimoneBiles and #BriannaStewart have created the excitement, fan bases and ratings that women’s sports have long deserved. #TaylorSwift isn’t just selling out concerts—she’s jumpstarting local economies. Within our own RevelEleven community, we’ve benefited from all the exceptional speakers—shown in the picture—who have graced us with their wisdom, warmth and expertise. From bestselling authors to CEOs, life coaches to outdoor adventure enthusiasts, and everyone in between, each of these remarkable women has contributed invaluable insights that have enriched our community. Their voices have sparked meaningful conversations, inspired countless members, and empowered our community of over 6,000 women to embrace their journeys and live life on their terms. It’s. Our. Time. (And it’s about time.) When I talk with my friends about the impact that women are making throughout our society we all have the same takeaway: we need to ride this wave, stay engaged and keep making positive changes. We have the momentum—now let’s do something with it! Here are some ways you can make a difference: Be a mentor The next generation of leaders needs you! Whether you do it formally through a mentorship program or informally by spending time with young women and girls, being a mentor is one of the most important ways you can help make sure women have the future we want and deserve. Find your cause Get involved! Find something you care about—reproductive rights, business leadership, girls sports, it doesn’t matter what—and volunteer your time, energy and expertise. Big changes start with small moments. Vote like you mean it Voting matters! The world would be a much different—and better—place with more women in elected positions. Your ballot is a critical way to make changes and protect the rights and values that we care about. Thank you for making the first half of 2024 so unforgettable and being the driving force behind the growth and success of RevelEleven! "I love what you're doing." Many women have contacted us to tell us they love The JWE or what we’re doing with The JWE. It's certainly a compliment, but also sometimes a little bit of a question mark. We haven’t seen them register for any events. We haven’t seen them interact with any of our content. We didn’t know they were on our mailing list. Yet, they’re inspired by the work we are doing to create a community for working Jewish women based on education, mentorship, and connection. Sometimes, it’s inspiring to know that something exists that is greater than ourselves. It’s nice to know that the values we hold of being a woman at home and at work are validated somewhere else in the world. We’re not alone in our thoughts. It’s comforting to see messages from other women who said “no” at work in order to say “yes” at home or had to do the reverse. It’s encouraging to see other women featured at all levels, living well-balanced lives, or at least being real about the “balance” they choose. And all in a professional yet beautiful setting (read: there's always some purple). Women who have been part of The JWE recently or are watching from the sidelines are noting how the women in our network are serious, professional, and values-driven. They believe in real femininity and embrace their unique strengths in business, too. Our weekly virtual events are not going to be for everyone. Our monthly meetups are not going to be for everyone. Maybe even our annual conference with over 350 women won’t be for everyone. Maybe even our posts and messaging won’t necessarily be for everyone either. But to everyone who’s inspired from the sidelines, whether it be by seeing the names of so many women featured in our programming whom you didn’t know existed, or reading the stories of finding balance between caring for our family and our work, we thank you for staying tuned. And we see you, too. If you want to experience it live, maybe the conference is for you. Link in comments below.

Welcome to 2025 - the year to thrive! You will, over the next wee while notice a change in our branding. Our socials and our website branding will be updated over the next couple of weeks so keep an eye out. Moving forward we will be known as NZ Businesswomen. Why - simply, we have an amazing community of female businessowners and we're stepping up, backing ourselves and telling the world we're here, we're strong, we going to thrive and make a difference! Why is it so important for women to support women in business? We make the difference. We grow and develop strong and resilient communities if we ourselves are nurtured, that is what women do for one another. Imagine how much better the world would be if we had communities that took time to understand one another, to nurture, to support and to encourage one another! Women are creative, efficient business owners and run fairly profitable businesses. They not scared of hard work, don’t have egos, are persistent and resilient – all things that are vital to being a successful entrepreneur. Women are creative & understand there is more than one way to ‘skin a cat’. By supporting women in business we are providing/increasing the financial stability of our families and our communities as a whole. Businesswomen create jobs, create wealth for themselves and give. They are also setting examples for their children who see the possibility of themselves growing and developing into leaders. Women are amazing – the fact that we don’t always value ourselves is where the problem lies. We have a responsibility to help one another, it’s a privilege to be able to lift other women up. We must let everyone know how amazing businesswomen are – especially the businesswomen themselves. The business community is beginning to understand the importance of supporting women in business, but we have a long way to go. At NZ Buisnesswomen we believe it’s incredibly important to support and empower businesswomen because it is that support, encouragement and motivation that is going to see those businesswomen and their businesses grow. If we don’t see the value in supporting one another, why should anyone else? Looking forward to a fantastic year! #nzbusinesswomen #venusbusinesswomen #thrivein25 #businessdevelopment #businesswomenscommunity

It's tough isn't it when everyone else it seems is 'excited' about something that's happening in their business and you don't feel you've got a lot to be excited about. Rest assured for all those who are 'excited' there are a lot more who aren't. A quick reframe though... 1. We don't all get excited about the same stuff - because we are not necessarily trying to achieve the same thing. 2. Even those who are excited about something may have a ton of stuff happening that's not so exciting behind the scenes - we never know the journey people are on. 3. It can be a rollercoaster running your own business - which is why it's so important to surround yourself with the right people, to share those ups and downs with. It certainly took me some time in those early days to realise that 'working through stuff' on my own wasn't the answer. Finding your people, your cheerleaders, your support and those who genuinely want to help you is sooo important. If you haven't found your people yet, keep looking, they are there and you'll know when you find them. ********************* I'm Elaine Atherton Co-Founder of Grow Her Business, Judith Hamilton and I joined forces to give women who've stepped out the employed world and started their own business an easier start to their journey than we had. In Grow Her Business we provide 1. A learning space - to fill in gaps in your business skills 2. Networking opportunities to grow your network with amazing other women in business 3. A place to drop in and asking questions and get support when you need it. Check it out - it might just be what you need right now. https://lnkd.in/e6ehhpy4 #womeninbusiness #womendoingitforthemselves
