🤔 Why is pipeline velocity an important metric in B2B Marketing? And how can you measure this KPI? In B2B marketing we are in a shift from a focus on lead generation to demand generation and demand capture. And since counting the amount of leads isn’t enough anymore, we need new KPIs to make sure we’re doing the right thing. One of these KPIs is pipeline velocity. It measures the speed at which opportunities move through the sales pipeline to become closed deals. It combines multiple factors that determine sales growth: ● Number of opportunities ● Average deal size ● Win rate ● Length of sales cycle (see the example of the formula in the carousel below) I highly recommend using self-attribution to analyze the impact of marketing on pipeline velocity. Do this by adding 1 field to every form asking “how did you find us?” with an open box, no prefilled answers. This way you can see which programs are impacting the fastest achievement of pipeline milestones. In my experience, it’s best to analyze the pipeline velocity every quarter and check the difference between the quarters.
