What does joy look like for changemakers? One of my favorite parts of the Say More podcast is the opportunity to connect with others making a difference in our world to share wisdom and replenish our spirits. I’m excited to share the launch of "Say a Little Bit More" — a special three-part mini series as I take stock of the conversations I’ve had so far. For the first episode, I’m diving into how we can find and sustain joy in our work as I reflect on my conversations with The On Being Project's Krista Tippett, Marshall Ganz, Debra Cleaver, Jimmie Briggs, Steven Colón. 2moTulaine, in reading your quotes here, the relationship between the Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu comes to mind from The Book of Joy, which really makes me wonder how we create workspaces—especially cross-generational—that are conducive to this type of joyful energy (often balanced with a drive for impact or excellence or delivery). The second thing that comes to mind is a compliment from a mentor saying, “You take your work seriously but don’t take yourself too seriously,” and the question of how we can make a cultural of trust (or intentional steppingstones for sharing trust and understanding) especially when onboarding new people in a larger society where people change jobs more frequently. Sara Krachman is also leading Joyful Impact that Alex Johnston started at Building Impact Partners, and I could not be more impressed with the social changemakers that endeavor weaves together. Grateful you embody and use your platforms to spread contagious examples. Keep going!
