Exciting News from UZH Blockchain Center! We're thrilled to announce the launch of our Weekly Research Review series, an initiative dedicated to sharing insightful analyses of key papers that are shaping the world of blockchain technology. This week, we're featuring a review by Heyang Li, one of our researchers at the UZH Blockchain Center, on "A Blockchain Consensus Mechanism that uses Proof of Solution to Optimize Energy Dispatch and Trading" by Sijie Chen et al., Nature Energy, 2022. "Traditional centralized optimization is ill-suited for today's decentralized energy systems. Blockchain holds the potential to address this, but current blockchains struggle with integrating crucial mathematical optimization. To solve this, the authors propose Proof of Solution (PoSo), a specialized consensus mechanism. PoSo ensures accurate results even with dishonest participants, surpassing traditional methods. PoSo outperforms existing blockchains in computational efficiency, and modifying PoSo risks compromising its security and efficiency. They validate PoSo's security and necessity by applying it to energy dispatch and trading in integrated systems. Results demonstrate PoSo's superiority over current schemes. This provides a compelling illustration of innovative consensus and integration within blockchain and other systems." Very excited that we shared our blockchain solution, LETUS, at SIGMOD-2024. LETUS introduce a re-designed architecture with delta-encoding and version-based indexing schema, also with block tiering and state pruning proposed. LETUS is also universal for different blockchains, adaptable for Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, etc. Evaluations shows that, LETUS improves the throughput by up to 15.8 times for the ERC-20 smart contract transfer workload. And reduces the space usage by up to 80.3%, reduces disk bandwidth usage by up to 95%. During the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, AntChain (augmented by LETUS) successfully supported the digital flame ignition event, where over 100 million torchbearers from more than 100 countries lit the digital torches in real-time online. I am thrilled to share that the research paper, titled "Tackling E-Waste Management Using Decentralized Marketplace Leveraging Ethereum Blockchain," which we authored and presented, has been selected for the Best Paper Award at the 2024 International Conference on Signal Processing, Computation, Electronics, Power, and Telecommunication (IConSCEPT-2024)! 🎉 This incredible opportunity was made possible through the collaboration with co-author Himasri Allu. Our work addresses the critical issue of e-waste management by proposing an innovative decentralized marketplace using Ethereum Blockchain. The conference, organized by the National Institute of Technology Puducherry, Karaikal, in association with IEEE MADRAS SECTION, was held on July 4-5, 2024. It was an honor to present our findings alongside many esteemed researchers and professionals in the field. Dear All, I am excited to announce that our paper has been published in (Elsevier) Internet of Things journal (Scopus Q1-top with Citescore=14.2 and WoS SCIE with Impact Factor=5.9) in July 2024. Ali Hamidoğlu, Ömer Melih Gül, and Professor Seifedine Kadry, "A game-theoretical approach for the adoption of government-supported blockchain application in the IoT-enabled agricultural supply chain". This paper proposes an IoT-enabled agricultural supply chain that integrates with a cooperative Nash game between two parties: telecommunications operators and agricultural enterprises. The aim is to establish cooperative decision-making procedures in advance of the integration of blockchain technology into the supply chain, which is regulated by the subsidy policy of the government.
