NEW TEACHERS!!! You don't need 15 resumes. You don't need to visit every table and stand in every line. You don't need to go in blind! 1. Look at the districts job board many of their positions are already posted. 2. Research Everything! ✅️Research location: what schools are close to you? ✅️Research school report cards usually found on the state DOE website: Is the school improving or regressing? IT MATTERS. ✅️Call the front office and ask a question. The professionalism of front office staff says a lot about the professionalism within the building. 3. They NEED YOU. Remember that. Go with confidence and be selective! #teacher #newteacher #job #education #worksmarter #schools #k12 ##oneteachertoanother

Educational Leader| Ed.D | Educational Consultant | CEO Potter’s Educational Services| University Professor | Book Reviewer
I have reviewed many very well written CVs and several suggestions that I have for educational job seekers is: In your career objective include the position you are seeking. Just because you have been a homeroom teacher does not necessarily mean that you are looking for that position. Be specific. Also do you want to work in the national, British, American, etc. section. Again, be specific. I am a consultant at a school where we have three different departments. We don’t know what you are applying for unless you tell us. Make sure you include your most recent employment first. If there are gaps in your employment you may wish to explain why (stay home with my new born) etc. Include your education and certification. If your are currently working on your masters or PGCE you may indicate this. Add any honors or awards you might have earned. A good idea to include any additional jobs you can do at the school, such as, coaching or sponsoring a club. Certainly check over your CV several times before you send off. This is the first impression the readers will have of you and you want to make it as correct as possible. You want good grammar and no spelling errors. Most school administrators and HR staff do not have time to read through a lot of pages of your CV. We know what the role and responsibilities of an elementary are. You do not have to describe them to us. We recommend a one or two page CV should be sufficient to get your point across. I have 53 years in education with 27 different jobs and my CV is one page. Getting a job is a job in itself! If you want me to review your CV and make suggestions, I am happy to. A free service for educators. Lpotter3434@gmail.com
