TÜV Rheinland Academy is organizing Greenhouse Gas Accountant programme in collaboration with DEWA’s Sustainability and Innovation Center in August 2024. Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Accountant is designed to equip delegates to gain better understanding of ISO14064 and ISO14067 standards and deeper knowledge about climate change impact, GHG inventory and reporting, LCA evaluation, carbon pricing and CFP reporting, etc. Upon successful completion, participants will be able to leverage this knowledge and the credentials to support organizations on Green House Gas Management. The Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol) is updating its guidance, including on scope 2. Revisions will most likely include more granular attributes in terms of time- and location-matching: since most regulations use the GHGP as a foundational standard, these updates will have far-reaching implications. Check out our latest blog by Shehzad Wadalawala on what the GHGP scope 2 updates mean for companies. https://lnkd.in/gp4MrthA

A pathbreaking decision by VERRA … a step towards building and reinstating confidence in the voluntary markets and ensuring the credibility of the VCUs generated by various projects across the world …
📢 New public consultation open! Verra has launched a public consultation on an optional pathway for projects registered in the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) Program to (1) update to a new methodology or methodology version for past verification periods and (2) requantify the greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions and carbon dioxide removals from past verification periods in accordance with that methodology. If the new methodology or methodology version to which a project updates is approved by The Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM), such a change would enable proponents to obtain Core Carbon Principles (CCP) labels for the requantified Verified Carbon Units (VCUs). The consultation is open from July 9 through August 9, 2024. See the full announcement for more details, including the full text of the proposed procedure: https://bit.ly/4bB7tNF #Verra #ClimateChange #ClimateAction #StandardsMatter

https://lnkd.in/e4CFWmY [220 Pages Report] The global emission monitoring system market size is expected to grow from USD 3.2 billion in 2023 to USD 5.0 billion by 2028, at a CAGR of 9.3% from 2023 to 2028. Manufacturing companies are required to ensure that their pollutant emission rates are within specified limits. To achieve this, countries have issued laws and ordinances that provide detailed instructions for emission control measures. For instance, the Federal Emission Control Act was introduced in Germany, while the United States implemented the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Clean Air Act. The concern over hazardous gas emissions has led to an increase in demand for emission monitoring systems that help protect the environment.

UK ETS - a game changer for reducing use of plastics ? It was mentioned this week at a CIWM Midlands Centre event that UK ETS may have more impact on plastics reduction than the Plastic Packaging Tax or Extended Producer Responsibility for Packaging. Also that local authorities are deeply concerned about its impact on their costs. Therefore, really helpful to have informative blogs on the subject from Frith Resource Management Limited . #ETS #wastemanagement #sustainability

📣 We are thrilled to share that the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market has achieved a significant milestone: the Council is embarking on the assessment of 100+ active carbon credit methodologies for adherence to the robust Core Carbon Principles (CCPs). A dedicated expert group, involving members of the Governing Board, Expert Panel, and external stakeholders, has sorted these methodologies into 36 categories. The assessments will be conducted in one of three ways: 1️⃣ Categories covering 47% of carbon credits in the market that raise complex issues in specific areas will be assessed by Multi-Stakeholder Working Groups, including Expert Panel members and external experts with relevant knowledge in areas like renewable energy, improved forest management, efficient cookstoves, and reducing deforestation (known as REDD+ ~ Reducing Emissions from Deforestation in Developing Countries). 2️⃣ Categories covering 8% of carbon credits in the market will be assessed internally by the Integrity Council secretariat and members of our Expert Panel. These include capturing methane from mines and landfill sites, detecting and repairing leaks in gas systems, destroying chemicals that damage the ozone layer and reducing emissions of the powerful greenhouse gas sulphur hexafluoride. 3️⃣ Categories covering 1% of carbon credits in the market are considered unlikely to meet criteria in the CCP rulebook and will only be assessed once other assessments are complete. These include new natural gas power, waste heat recovery, and industrial energy efficiency. This work represents a critical next step in our work, which aims to deliver high-integrity standards in the carbon market. Stay tuned for the first decisions expected by the end of March! 🌐🍃 🔗 Find out more - https://lnkd.in/djyB8T78 #CarbonCredits #ClimateAction
