New Year, New EU Laws for 2024! Probably the most important regulatory change for the tire industry in 2024 will come into force in the second half of the year. From October 1, 2024, only winter and all-season tires with the "Alpine" or 3PMSF symbol (Three Peak Mountain Snowflake) will be allowed on the road in wintery conditions in Germany, with tires marked with the "M+S" symbol (indicating suitability for use in mud and snow) no longer qualifying as suitable winter tires. This new regulation is not a complete ban on tires with this symbol, and the M+S symbol will continue to appear on standard winter tires. A new ‘black box’ or EDR (Event Data Recorder) device regulation will apply to all new EU commercial vehicles from July 7, 2024 (EU Regulation 2019/2144) and is intended to help reconstruct the causes of accidents. An EDR is usually located in the airbag control unit and collects data from the vehicle’s acceleration sensors. For 5 seconds before, and 3,000 milliseconds after an accident, speed, engine speed, steering angle and airbag deployment data is stored to provide detailed information about the nature of the accident. These new regulations also require all new EU commercial vehicles to install and equip reversing, lane keeping and emergency braking assistance systems. New toll regulations will also take effect in Germany from July, with vans weighing 3.5 tonnes or more subject to tolls under the German Federal Highway Toll Act (BFStrMG). This particularly affects companies with mixed fleets, freight forwarders, parcel services, delivery services and companies with smaller vans. Exemptions apply to rescue vehicles, THW vehicles, fire brigade vehicles, civil protection services, agriculture and forestry vehicles, as well as camping and craft vehicles.

Why isn't more made out of why the DOT/FMCSA exempts livestock haulers from using ELDs? They said they couldn't do their job safely using an ELD. If it is unsafe for livestock haulers to use an ELD, it would be for someone pulling a Van, Refer, Flat, or another type of trailer. Haven't accidents gone up since ELDs were implemented? Doesn't that make you wonder why? That proves ELDs are unsafe. ELDs count every single minute, whereas paper logs give drivers leeway. Common sense should tell you that ELDs force/make drivers rush, hurry, speed, and cut corners to gain or save every minute they can. The Government will never admit they were wrong on something. They would rather look the other way while accidents continue to happen and blame it on something or someone else. If you want to keep ELDs, then eliminate the outdated 70-hour limit. That way, drivers won't be racing the clock as much anyway. They won't be worried about how many hours they will have on Sunday when it's only Monday.

LSM BridgeSense® (Int. pat. pend.) offers a cost-effective world first solution. Priced under $100 per in-cabin device per vehicle, this system requires no extra infrastructure or ongoing maintenance / support, is easy to implement, with the low costs recoverable through vehicle registration. This CAAS mitigation technology can save lives, prevent injuries, and reduce taxpayer expenditure by $millions or even $billions compared to more expensive, less effective systems. LSM BridgeSense® can integrate or augment with existing tech, minimise human error, behavioural issues, and environmental factors. It provides audible and visual alerts inside the driver’s cabin, ensures truck crane, bin, tray are down and can trigger deceleration, braking, or automatic emergency braking (AEB) if warnings are ignored. #WeeklySafetyTopic: Sharing The Road with Ag Equipment 🚜 It does not matter what we are driving - A car, truck, motorcycle, or a combine or tractor – we all share the same public roadways. Road safety is everyone’s responsibility because our actions on the road affect more than just ourselves. Here are some tips to help keep everyone safe while sharing the road: 🚜Be aware of agricultural equipment on the roads, especially during Spring and Fall when it's busiest. 🚜Slow down when approaching agricultural machinery as they travel slower than regular traffic. 🚜Leave plenty of space between your vehicle and ag equipment to avoid potential debris and know when it's safe to pass. Let's work together to keep our roads safe for everyone! 🚗🚜 Learn More: https://ow.ly/U6wN50RmGjP #PattisonAg #PattisonAgSafety

Sometimes, we will give you some information, which are necessary to take in account for the design of foresty and agricultural vehicles braking system. The European regulation, called Mother regulation, for the agricultural and foresty vehicles came into effect in 2018. The part of the Mother Regulation concerning the braking system is called RVBR (REG 2015/68 available in below link) and defines the service, parking brakes for the tractors and the trailers. This regulation is complexe and take in account a lot of parameters, where it is very easy to be lost. Some points are often missing as the below points. Any electrical failure shall apply braking system against driver intention. In this situation of failure, it is necessary to take in account that trailer brake valve is on the tractor, then it is the article 2.2.1.30, which is applicable, even if in case of electrical failure, the tractor could activate the trailer braking system. The most important thing to remind to understand the RVBR is, in any situation it shall be possible to brake the convoy or vehicle. RVBR is available on the below European Union Law website: https://lnkd.in/dNZPbw2V

Planting and spraying season is in full swing, and that means lots of tractors, planters and sprayers are on the roads. Here are some tips to keep yourselves and others safe: ✅ Stay alert and slow down when you're approaching machinery. Agricultural equipment moves a lot slower than regular traffic, so even if you're following the speed limit, you might approach the equipment more quickly than you expect. ✅ Leave lots of space around the equipment. This can help keep you safe from any debris that might come from the machinery, and it can help you determine when it's safe to pass. ✅ Only pass when it's safe to do so, and when you can see the operator of the machine. (If you can't see them, they can't see you!) When passing, follow the same rules of the road that apply when you pass other vehicles - never pass over a solid centre line, or on a hill or curve in the road. For more information, check out resources from the Canadian Agricultural Safety Association. https://lnkd.in/eZKgqTSv

https://lnkd.in/dN6JF-rQ It still makes sense in the third millennium to publish in the AD Chart (of an unattended airport) remarks like the following?: "CAUTION: Bird hazard. Birds seasonally on aerodrome and larger number present on the outlying fields when irrigation or cultivation taking place." What help can a pilot get from this? Or will the help provided only for the airport operator?
