Last month, our Cleveland summer associates Adri Perez, Ian Robertson , and Cydney Granger were able to meet and enjoy an evening out with Brian O'Farrell , a summer associate from St. Louis, at Fahrenheit, a local restaurant in Cleveland, hosted by the Cleveland Akron Law Association. It was a fantastic opportunity for our team to connect and share experiences in a relaxed and welcoming environment. #SummerAssociates #TeamBuilding #Cleveland #UBGreensfelder #Networking #LawFirmLife

It's time for the next #FACSfamFriday! Meet Grant Paulson, our Contract Administrator based in the Hayward office. Below, you will find all of Grant's answers to our questions as well as a graphic with a few snapshots of Grant enjoying his hobbies and passions outside of work. Do you have any questions for Grant or other FACS employees you'd like to see answered in the next #FACSfamFriday? Let us know by commenting on this post. What’s your favorite thing about working at FACS? One of the things I love most about working at FACS is the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects that have a positive impact on the environment. It's incredibly fulfilling to be part of a team that's dedicated to making a difference in the world. What is one thing we don't know about you (non-work-related)? Outside of work, I'm all about hockey, golf, hiking, and most importantly, spending quality time with my family. What is one thing that you geek out about? I'm a bit of a history buff and love diving into the stories and events that have shaped our world. Whether it's ancient civilizations, wars, or cultural movements, I find it fascinating to explore the complexities of the past and how they've influenced our present. What is your favorite store to shop at in-person or virtually? When it comes to shopping, I'm a huge fan of browsing through local farmer's markets. Do you have any pets? Yes, I'm proud to say I have a rescue dog named Tusk, who brings endless joy to my life. He's a delightful mix of Shiba Inu and Husky, and our favorite activity is going to the brewery together and hunting lizards! What is your favorite book to read? Two of my top picks are "The Worlds That Made Us" by Akhil Reed Amar, delving into the historical roots of American constitutional law, and any work by Dr. Seuss, whose imaginative stories always bring joy and inspiration. What is your favorite random fact? The term "Windy City" was not originally coined because of Chicago's weather, but rather because of its politicians.

One of the former owners of Eleven Madison Park (which was named the best restaurant in the world multiple times) recently wrote a booked entitled "Unreasonable Hospitality". The book reflects on his and his team’s unwavering focus on the experience obtained from the moment one entered the restaurant through the moment one left. It is a book that posits that principles of care, attention to detail, and the pursuit of excellence are shared values in any profession, including the legal profession. I think it's a worthwhile read for us all and it leads me to my 23rd Counselor Chunk. Counselor Chunk 23: Just because you are in pursuit of excellence in your profession as an attorney, does not give you the license to be inhospitable to your colleagues or your clients. I believe that, as an attorney, you have 3 buckets of attention on which to focus in order to find "unreasonable" success: (1) dedication to your craft; (2) dedication to your clients and (3) dedication to your colleagues. You cannot have great success if one of these buckets are forgotten. #attorneylife #lawyerlife #letsgo

We are excited to share news of our partnership with The Slate Denver, Tapestry Collection by Hilton! Formerly the iconic Emily Griffith building, this historic gem has been beautifully transformed into a modern masterpiece, all while preserving its charming schoolhouse essence. 📚 Paying homage to Emily Griffith herself, they've even named their restaurant The Teacher's Lounge Food & Drink! But here's the best part: For every delicious bowl of soup sold at the Teacher's Lounge, $1 goes towards supporting the students and programs at Emily Griffith Technical College. 🥣 What makes this partnership even more special? Well, Emily Griffith herself used to whip up hearty soups for her students daily, a tradition that continues to inspire us to this day. Join us in celebrating this wonderful collaboration and enjoy a bowl of soup with a side of history at the Slate Hotel's Teacher's Lounge! #CommunityPartnership #SupportEducation #SoupForACause #opportunity #emilygriffithfoundation #denver #colorado

The Missed Opportunity of Connaught Village: A Call for Change As we start to work more in the charming yet underwhelming Connaught Village, a pressing conversation needs to be brought to the forefront. Inspired by Dylan Jones' insightful article from 26 February 2024, it's clear that the vision to transform the Connaught Village neighbourhood into a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly space akin to the elegance of Marylebone High Street, remains unfulfilled. The Church Commissioners' endeavour to replicate such a model has, unfortunately, not seen the success we all hoped for. Connaught Village, despite its potential and notable residents, struggles with a lack of variety, hosting an array of overpriced essentials and a saturation of similar dining experiences. The closure of local cafes and restaurants highlights a trend of decline, a far cry from the bustling, diverse high street we envision. Marylebone High Street's charm is not just in its assortment of boutiques, cafes, and local shops but in the careful planning and management by The Howard de Walden Estate. Their strategy fosters a welcoming environment that benefits locals, Londoners, and tourists alike. This contrast starkly with Connaught Village's current state, where even the management's online presence seems disorganised and outdated. It's disheartening to observe the lack of initiative from the Church Commissioners, especially considering their substantial resources and land ownership. As we delve deeper into this neighbourhood, it becomes evident that more can be done to cultivate a space that champions local businesses, enhances pedestrian accessibility, and truly reflects the community's needs and desires. This call to action is not just about improving retail diversity or dining options; it's about recognising and seizing the opportunity to enhance our neighbourhood's fabric. Let's strive for a Connaught Village that embodies the spirit of community, diversity, and pedestrian-friendliness, making it a true asset to London's landscape. The time is now for the Church Commissioners to step up and make the necessary changes to realise this vision. https://lnkd.in/d3jUED25
