Fractional CEO/COO | 4 steps to skyrocket your gaming studio in 3 months | $100M+ Budgets Managed | ex-MD Blizzard, Gameloft & Huuuge
1 big mistake I learned going from Gameloft to Blizzard: Stability keeps you where you are. As a stable VP with my kids and family rooted in Japan. I lived the same routine for 12.5 years. Until I realized I wasn't growing. If I could go back, I would have done it sooner. Because nothing beats personal development. I hadn't considered South Korea due to a language barrier. ↳ Blizzard reassured me my skills were valuable without Korean proficiency. I joined them as Managing Director. This helped me overcome my big mistake. -> Adapting sooner rather than later is always a 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲. Being able to adapt, get out of your comfort zone, and deliver equally well is something that no company could show me. That transition from Japan to South Korea helped me overcome this. There are endless opportunities depending on where you look. If you're a gaming studio, and you're looking to scale up your business. I'm offering 1:1 mentorship for business advisory to help you: - Scale your business - Get funding - Take you to the next level DM me with the word "SCALE" and let's chat.

Video Games Industry Executive Leader. Ex-Blizzard,Zenimax,Riot,IO-Interactive. Owner: 9Elevenses.Studio leader, builder, creative vision holder.
Here are my Thursday Thoughts. Learnings from a 20+ year Video Games industry veteran. From Blizzard Entertainment: How to build huge teams, how to deal with massive growth and keep moving forward while things keep getting bigger! From Zenimax Online Studios: Learning from previous growth when replicating the process, working with Governments and US states on site selection, truly international business. From Riot Games: That radically different cultures suit different people, that making huge money as a company quickly brings huge challenges. That not every culture suits every person. From IO-Interactive: That working in a team you love on projects you love still isn't going to make you completely happy if the location isn't right. From AntiMatter Games: You can do more with less, because sometimes you have to. I learned a lot about the M&A process taking the company through it, and I learned that you must be extremely careful who you select in these processes to protect your team. I've led teams through multiple projects in AA and AAA, managed teams of many hundreds, and been responsible for every part of a game developer and much of publishing. I'm still always learning. How about you? #gamesindustry #gamedevelopment #leadership

1 lesson I learned going from Gameloft to Blizzard: (Japan to South Korea) I was a stable VP. Kids. Family. Everything rooted in Japan. Life was the same routine. I left Gameloft 12.5 years later. This taught me 1 big lesson. -> Leadership roles overseas take a lot of adaptation Being able to adapt, get out of your comfort zone, and deliver equally well is something that no company could show me. I learned that in the transition from leaving a past life and starting a new one. The world is full of opportunities. For the right role, the right company, and the right conditions. I would do this again in a heartbeat. Don't limit your search to one location. Agree?

Creating whole worlds, with their systems, their rules, their characters, their physics, to tell stories, to empower users to live lasting digital adventures with their friends, is hard. #SkullAndBones development was long and complex, you all know this. But today, it's launching, and i strongly encourage you to give this game its chance. Not for what it could have been. Not for what you might have heard in the press about its development. But for what it is, for the value it tries to provide now and for hopefully years to come. Bravo to all the teams involved for their resilience, happy #launch day :) Ubisoft Singapore, Ubisoft Shanghai, Ubisoft Ukraine Studios, Ubisoft Belgrade, Ubisoft Berlin, Ubisoft, Ubisoft India Studios #gaming #digital #innovation #gameindustry #product #ubisoft
