As the generation that benefitted from nuclear power, it is our responsibility to provide a solution for the spent nuclear fuel. We owe it to future generations to address this issue and should not pass on the burden and costs to them. Learn why federal action is needed below ⬇️ https://bit.ly/4cibw3i

Best invest in Building and talking about Fusion power, space, maritime propulsion systems and industry as data centres are. Great Headline, Guardian on Nuclear fission. https://lnkd.in/g8sMZtpR People talk about Nuclear (meaning Fission) and fail to discuss fusion. https://lnkd.in/ge_aeX7M The nuclear fission industry is ignorant of what's happening around it. It must pull its collective uranium heads out of the sand and prepare to enter the commercially growing fusion energy industry. Fission is moving towards obsolescence at an ever-increasing pace, as it is "out of step, out of time, out of place, and soon to be out of Fuel" and merely temporary. https://lnkd.in/gbd_mZqk By 2028, Helion is expected to start producing electricity from its first fusion commercial power plant, which will provide electricity to Microsoft. The plant will produce at least 50 MWe after an initial ramp-up period. https://lnkd.in/gY9J3MQY Now, see what is happening in the world of the fusion industry. https://lnkd.in/g9hMBD7a As fission trebles, fuel shortage is increasingly real, https://lnkd.in/gze5rwpr
Bulgaria’s nuclear regulator has granted a license for the use of Westinghouse fuel in unit 5 of the Kozloduy nuclear power plant. Nuclear energy is having a moment. Public and private sector leaders – in the U.S. and internationally – have shown increasing interest in this clean power source in recent years. By way of example, in 2023 Poland announced plans for the development of its first nuclear power plants; plans are underway to repower a previously decommissioned nuclear power plant in Michigan with up to $1.5B in related federal, DOE support; and plans for the deployment of small modular reactors are moving forward on many fronts with encouragement of stakeholders including tech companies and data center owners. “Scaling up nuclear energy capacity to at least three times its current size requires political will from energy leaders, along with mobilising quickly and efficiently the required financing. We have no time to lose … through Net Zero Nuclear, we hope to facilitate the action our industry needs to grow.” Sama Bilbao y Leon I hope to see Canada join the Net Zero Nuclear initiative and support nuclear energy during COP28!
World Nuclear Association and the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, with support from the International Atomic Energy Agency’s Atoms4NetZero and the UK government, have launched the Net Zero Nuclear initiative seeking "unprecedented collaboration between government, industry leaders and civil society" ahead of COP28. https://lnkd.in/dcpYWEPc

🎉 You did it! S.870 – the new reconciled version of the Advanced Energy Advancement Act (AEAA) and the Accelerating Deployment of Versatile, Advanced Nuclear for Clean Energy (ADVANCE) Act – passed the House with overwhelming bipartisan support last week. That means we are one step closer to seeing the next generation of nuclear power come online. S.870 streamlines the deployment of next-generation nuclear technologies by enabling more efficient and predictable licensing and regulation. The future of nuclear is now! 🗓️ What’s next? The bill now goes back over to the Senate where it is likely to pass quickly. The Senate already passed the ADVANCE Act last year, so we expect a similarly high level of support for this version of the same pro-nuclear legislation. After that, the legislation will go the President’s desk to be signed into law. Then the important work of advancing nuclear energy in the U.S. continues…
