More forward progress on nuclear power...
As was announced in June 2024 at the Nuclear Energy Security Summit co-sponsored by #UCANPower, the US Navy formally expressed its interest to explore nuclear power to support energy security at Navy and Marine Corps installations and their surrounding communities. While the RFI at link focuses on four Navy installations and three Marine Corps installations for an initial assessment of DON locations that could be used for nuclear power, additional installations may be considered beyond the 7 bases in VA, MD, and NC. Outstanding news for those States. Now, all three military services have active engagements with nuclear power developers and utilities to meet energy resilience and reliability goals through the placement of nuclear reactor on or near military bases. As with the other Service initiatives, we look forward to supporting Asst Secretary of the Navy (EIE), Meredith Berger and the Navy team on this critical endeavor for our Nation’s energy future.
