Our statement on the passing of Paul Kane, whose leadership as UJA's head of fundraising and dedication to UJA's work left an indelible mark on our community.
May his memory be for a blessing.
St. Claire HealthCare is pleased to support local organizations with similar missions. On Monday, SCH President/CEO Donald H. Lloyd, II, and Mindy Highley, SCH Executive Director of Community Engagement and Philanthropy presented a $50,000 check to Bev Gilliam, Director of the Rowan County Christian Social Services to allow that organization to better address community needs.
“St. Claire is honored to help organizations who share a vision of bettering the lives of the people of eastern Kentucky,” said Lloyd. “There is a tremendous need for the services provided by Christian Social Services in Rowan County and they are making a difference in our community every single day.”
Today marks one month since I started with Benefactor Group as a Senior Consultant in the interim services capacity. Here are four reflections I would love to share:
🗓 30 days goes incredibly fast. If you are an organization hiring for a leadership position, allow your new hire to jump in but also give them space to sit with the new. The Bene team has been incredibly thoughtful about this.
🙋♀️ It’s okay to ask for help. I say this from a place of deep compassion for organizational leaders. I have been there. Lean on people to help you. Having a third-party lens is sometimes the hardest to budget for but the best money you will spend.
📚 Knowledge is power. Easier said than done, professional development and keeping your brain sharp is imperative to our sector. “This is how we have always done it” does not work anymore.
🔆 Nonprofits are amazing, and so are the people that work for them. As we begin to dive deep into interim services and what that looks like for nonprofits, we need to take a moment to acknowledge that this is hard work. Sometimes an organization is not the right fit for the people that are hired and sometimes the person isn’t the right fit for the organization. Let’s normalize saying that is okay.
If your organization, or someone you know might benefit from interim services— a focus on expanding the capacity of nonprofit organizations through change and talent management, transition planning, and sustaining development infrastructure—I’d love to learn from your experiences and explore how Benefactor Group could help! 📢 Let's Chat!

Libbie Sonnier, Ph.D., Executive Director of Louisiana Policy Institute for Children, shared why being a Nonprofit Member of BRAF is important to their organization and success:
"BRAF allows us to understand the landscape of not only the Baton Rouge area, but of the entire state of Louisiana. As a statewide organization, [BRAF] is critical to our success in advocating for Louisiana's youngest learners to be connected to this important network."

In a historic level of collaboration, community violence intervention (CVI) groups, philanthropic organizations, business leaders, and government entities recently unveiled an initiative to expand CVI programs over the next decade to significantly reduce gun violence in Chicago.
The goal of the initiative, called Scaling Community Violence Intervention for a Safer Chicago, or "SC2," is to reduce shootings and homicides by half within five years and by 75 percent in a decade.
Listen as Esther Franco-Payne, Executive Director of the Partnership for Safe and Peaceful Communities (PSPC), discusses the strategies behind SC2.

This inspiring nonprofit was looking for a solution to refurnish their new office under a tight budget, yet they still wanted to create a warm and inviting environment for their employees and guests. AIS and OMNIA Partners, Nonprofit were able to provide them with the opportunity to purchase brand new furniture that offered substantial savings and allowed for them to stay in budget.
OMNIA Partners, Nonprofit harnesses the power of cooperative purchasing to lower costs & simplify procurement decisions. For a nonprofit, like PACE, saving time and money is crucial to continued success and growth, and we are excited to continue our partnership with AIS to make it happen!
