Our Environmental Policy Director, Francesco Sandrelli, was at the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMarEST) 2024 Biosecurity Symposium, a two-day event focused on ballast water and #biofouling. Francesco presented on challenges and best practices of biofouling management, highlighting: ➡ why biofouling management is vital to the industry ➡ the #IMO regulatory context, challenges and opportunities for improvements ➡ case studies and best practices. This morning, we met with Indonesia’s government delegation at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) as part of the UK Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions (UK PACT) programme. Chamber representatives Francesco Sandrelli and Katrina Ross attended the meeting to discuss the EU and UK maritime environmental strategy, emphasising the need for a global carbon price and reinvesting revenues into shipping #decarbonisation.🌍♻ Discussions also centred around practicalities and mechanisms of #GHG pricing for international and domestic #shipping, aligning with the ongoing Intersessional Working Group on reducing GHG emissions from Ships (ISWG-GHG 17) talks held this week at the #IMO.
