Ditch the Zoom meeting - Let's grab coffee! ☕ Getting out of the home office and finally meeting Karen Mae Black in person was the highlight of last week! Karen and I have been meeting via Zoom for the last two years and it wasn't until last Friday that we ditched the home office Zoom and met at The Daily Coffee in Buckhead for coffee (btw - this place is so good!). We talked about #enrollmentmarketing (her expertise), #consulting, #homeexchange, #portugal, and #earthships. I even learned that she helped with the promotional campaign of a college's new urban sustainability program back when she lived in Los Angeles. We ventured into her visit to Taos, New Mexico to see the Earthships Michael was building out there (#goals). Talked about must-try restaurants in #Charleston and our dreams of living abroad. I share all this because I have become a homebody since the pandemic, and I am ready to step away from the home office and meet my network in real life! Of course, I'll ask for virtual meetings for ease of time but let's break up with the home office every now and then and grab coffee. Thank you Karen Mae Black for the great company and coffee chat! I'm excited to continue working with you, and I am pumped with ideas from our last conversation. -Jess #relationshipbuilding #marketing #communications #sales

🎬 YWF BTS Friday Hey friends, It's Mel, and I'm sitting here at the beautiful 22 Vanderbilt building thanks to the local NYC Culture Amp chapter (thank you!!) who invited folks to attend a co-working day. Man, this space is unreal! Change of scenery is good for so many reasons, right? I work from home primarily, but at least 1-2 times a week I try to find a new place to set-up shop. Why? 👉 You meet new people - Although a solopreneur, I don't accomplish anything without community! I'm a collaborator at heart so this fills my ambivert cup. 👉 It gets my creative juices flowing - who wouldn't be inspired by this view of Grand Central, but I'm also inspired by what I learn from others. 👉 It gives new perspective Questions for you: ❓ Any fellow co-working junkies out there? ❓ What are your favorite places to work from outside of the home/office? Was a pleasure to share the stage at GCUC UK with Danny Babington of Mindspace, Amy Taylor of Cushman & Wakefield, Robert Stevenson of Techspace and Niamh Martin of Convene, speaking about the evolving needs of occupiers in the "Flex" market. Key points from me: -> Its not a race to the most amenities possible (obvious point perhaps) -> "A place worth leaving home for" is really not the thing to focus on... instead it's: what are the specific things that workspace unlocks -> The driving consideration for using workspace is moving towards : what do I/we need to do there -> Amenities in fact should be relevant to "the moments" you are aiming to capture in your space -> Know the "moments" you want to capture in your space ->The moments you capture are hyper connected to where your space is located, not only what is inside it - if these 2 things sit in opposition the space will not be a success -> "Occupiers" is not a binary term. You have to consider who the "occupier" is at any given time. At the very least there is : the individual , the group, the business, each of these having a different set of considerations as to what a space needs to have. -> Don't get bogged down with "owning a client" (in fact no company would want to think of themselves as being owned by any service provider or advisor). Instead focus on delivering value to a "customer" and be open to the fact that you will likely be one of many, creating an ecosystem of value to a company, sometimes working in partnership with the others in the mix to create even more value. Hope those that attended the panel or are reading this post find some value in the insights and of course happy to chat further and add more value wherever I can! Thanks again GCUC UK!

Last weekend I set up my very first event, and I couldn't be prouder. Taking that leap into the unknown, pushing through the doubts, and turning my creativity into something real has been such an incredible feeling. The harsh reality of not finding jobs in the industry l studied for was tough, but it's also what pushed me to create my own path. Instead of giving up, l've used my skills and passion to do what I love-designing beautiful spaces for special moments. Here's to more challenges, more growth, and more celebrations! 🎉 IG: @sg.events.interiors_

Reflecting on a summer to remember As the warmth of summer fades into memory, we look back on the moments that made it truly special. ⭐ This year marked the third DIPWORK SUMMER EVENT where our administration team gathered with their families for a weekend of relaxation, camaraderie, and fun. The event was nothing short of memorable, with the perfect weather setting the stage for outdoor activities, great food, and endless laughter.🎉 Beyond the games and festivities, these gatherings have a much deeper significance. They strengthen the bonds between colleagues, foster a sense of unity, and reinforce the value of teamwork. In today’s fast-paced work environment, moments like these remind us of the importance of connecting with each other beyond the office walls. 🙏 Events like our summer gathering play a crucial role in building a strong and cohesive workplace culture. They provide an opportunity for employees to connect on a personal level, beyond the pressures of daily work. These interactions foster better communication, trust, and collaboration, which ultimately enhances productivity and team dynamics. For the company, such events are not just about celebration; they’re an investment in the well-being and satisfaction of the team. By creating an environment where employees feel valued and engaged, we cultivate a workforce that is motivated, loyal, and aligned with the company’s vision. In essence, these gatherings are key to both individual growth and the collective success of Dipwork.💎 As the summer event came to a close, we left recharged and motivated. With renewed energy, our team is ready to face new challenges, meet ambitious goals, and continue our journey of growth. A big thank you to our team for making this event possible and for the time spent together. Here's to more shared success and even more unforgettable moments in the future! 🙏 #Dipwork #Rightperson #Rightjob

My journey of self-employment began roughly 1 year ago, and I want to take a moment for a little recap. Here are 3 things that went well: 👨🏻💻 Work Environment I planned to work from home to save on costs in the beginning, but then I had the chance to join the lovely crew at Hotel Pavillon, a family-style coworking space in Vienna's 7th district. I spend roughly half of my time there, and the social interaction & helpful feedback I get from working in a shared office has been totally worth the investment! 🗂️ Clients My biggest initial fear was securing clients, but in hindsight, it wasn't an issue at all. As soon as I launched my website and announced my services, people from my network reached out to discuss projects and potential collaborations. I'm proud to have worked with KitzSki - Bergbahn AG Kitzbühel, SJack GmbH - starjack, ContextSDK, Bluecode, ORF , Die Presse, like2camp & viable | together we create in my first year. Thank you for your trust! 🙌 Partners At the same time, Michael Groh – a friend and former colleague, now a self-employed software engineer – needed a designer for a project. The collaboration quickly grew from one project to three, and our complementary skillsets have led us to plan on elevating our partnership in 2025 - more on that soon! When looking back, what are you proud to have accomplished when starting your business? By the way: The year wasn't without its challenges. In my next post, I'll list three things that didn't work out as planned and that I hope to handle better in the future. #SelfEmployment #1YearMilestone #FreelanceLife #ProfessionalDevelopment

🏳️🌈 Planit A Better Way - To Design and Deliver Events. Founder | Virtual & Event Production Expert | Event supplier sourcing wizard | CN30underthirty & C&IT Agency A-lister | Mentor | Speaker | Host
Happy Friday everyone! 🎉 👀 I’ve often felt a little disconnected from the industry since moving back, especially as all of the main events are in London, which is a train, hotel and expenses unless you get hosted which is too time-demanding and only open to one person in your business and generally a senior person. Our office is in WeWork in the city centre and I bump into people in our industry, or whilst out in the city and those small interactions where we discuss a shared problem, I’ve found so comforting. We are not alone, we all have similar problems whether that be unexpected client changes, culture, hiring, wellbeing, or just workload. I even recently spoke to someone who you’d expect has it all figured out, talk about how something new they’re doing, they’re approaching for the first time and need advice… If you know me, I’m huge on you don’t know what you don’t know. It’s why it took me so long to move from my first position at Don’t Panic, because we were a commercial agency that created events opposed to really delivering based of an executed client brief. That became my biggest challenge to overcome of which I got help outside of my organisation to do so and now have both skill sets to create and execute events. That’s why I’m so excited to create/bring something that will hopefully make a small impact on this industry I love, locally and for the future talent who join. Because that's what it's all about, the people we work with and the experiences we create for people... So let's make sure we support them both in our organisations and outside of them through shared learning, best practice and give them opportunities to connect Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and look forward to sharing more next week! Midweek motivation to 'Embrace boldness to transform your career' 💥 In the heart of our work week, we must remind ourselves of the power within to shape our professional journeys. Amy Cuddy's insights in "Presence: Bringing Your Boldest Self to Your Biggest Challenges" highlight how adopting powerful postures not only boosts our confidence but also significantly reduces stress. She famously said, "Tiny tweaks can lead to big changes." This is a fantastic tip for any wanting to overcome imposter syndrome or self-doubt, if you practice enough in safe spaces first you can gain self-belief to overcome this common hurdle in career advancement. At advovation, we believe in empowering individuals and teams by fostering an environment of advocacy and innovation. Here's what you can do to embody boldness in your career today: 🙌🏽 Start your day with a power pose: Spend two minutes every morning in a posture of confidence. This simple act can prime your mind for a day of success. 🙌🏽 Voice your ideas: In your next team meeting, find a point you're passionate or confident about on the agenda and be the first to speak up. Sharing your insights encourages a culture of innovation and positions you as a thought leader. 🙌🏽 Embrace feedback: Seek out feedback actively. It’s a golden opportunity for personal and professional growth, enabling you to tackle challenges with confidence. As we're on the theme of being bold, let's also celebrate creativity happening right now at Auckland Design Week, reimagined by Jen Jones and her team. This year's theme, 'Bold & Brave', aligns superbly. If you haven't checked it out, ADW are flipping the traditional - reframing what a design festival can be for Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland; with 7-days of tours, workshops, demonstrations, speaker panels, screenings and more. Until Saturday, 16th March, explore how design shapes our world by grabbing your ticket here https://lnkd.in/gBNis3Gr #boldness #confidence #careerdevelopment #advovation #personalbranding #teamdynamics #professionalgrowth #aucklanddesignweek #innovation #leadership
