Investors are expanding their portfolio beyond traditional commercial real estate sectors and venturing into the Living and Hotels sectors. In Europe, the shift is evident with the percentage of investment in these sectors increasing from 23% in 2014 to 33% in 2023. Our 2024 European Living Investor Sentiment Survey indicates that this trend is expected to persist. Conducted by Savills and Savills Investment Management for the second consecutive year, the survey involved major European investors active in the Living and Hotels sectors. The survey encompassed Residential (Multifamily, Single Family, Affordable Housing, PBSA, Co-living, Senior Housing) and Hotels (Mid-Market, Lifestyle, Luxury, Budget, Hostels, Serviced Apartments, and Branded Residences). Responses were collected from 63 investors with a combined real estate assets under management (AUM) exceeding €700bn. The majority of investors (63%) are based in the UK, while the remaining portion (37%) is located in continental Europe. Learn more:

In Europe, the proportion of investment in these sectors has been steadily increasing, from 23% in 2014 to 33% in 2023. Our latest European Living Investor Sentiment Survey for 2024 indicates that this trend is expected to persist. Conducted for the second consecutive year, Savills and Savills Investment Management have surveyed a wide range of European investors actively involved in the Living and Hotels sectors.
