In March, St. Louis outshone all other top 25 US markets with a whopping 24.3% growth in events volume, making it the leader in the hospitality sector for that period. Key events like sports and national association happenings have played a significant role in this surge. This impressive growth not only puts St. Louis on the map but also positions it ahead of other major cities known for their events, such as Las Vegas and Seattle. Interestingly, while St. Louis and a few other cities saw growth, the US overall experienced an 8.1% decline in events volume year-over-year, attributed to an early Easter and spring breaks. City of St. Louis led all other top 25 U.S. markets in year-over-year growth in events volume in March, up 24.3%, according to hospitality technology and intelligence provider Knowland. Sports and national association events were key drivers of growth for St. Louis, which outpaced City of Las Vegas, Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and City of Seattle, all of which also saw year-over-year growth in events volume in the month. Despite growth in these markets, year-over-year events volume growth was down 8.1% in the U.S. overall. Knowland attributed the decline to an early Easter holiday and accompanying spring break vacations. The company’s CEO, Jeff Bzdawka, previously told Hotel Dive that the meetings industry is set to have a “banner year” in 2024, bolstering strong hotel performance.
