The Urban Libraries Council announced their 2024 Top Innovators award winners and Miami-Dade County's work with CARD to make all Miami-Dade Public Library System libraries inclusive spaces for those with #autism and related disabilities was honored. From tools and resources to training and programming, this was a true collaboration, and part of CARD's on-going #AutismFriendly initiative. One more big thank you for this week. We couldn't be more thrilled and humbled for the continued support from Miami-Dade County. The county has been an tremendous partner for CARD, with support from Raquel Regalado, Daniella Levine Cava, the Commission, and many others. This commitment was realized this week with the passing of the FY2024-2025 budget, with a record amount of $450K being allocated for CARD, which will go towards our mission to serve (more) families and individuals impacted by autism across South Florida. On Wednesday this week, we hosted one of our favorite events of the year. It was our annual CARD Community Awards, a celebration of all of those in our community who have had a positive impact on CARD and the autism community. On June 17th, we hosted, in partnership with Miami-Dade County Public Schools, a special training for 120 dedicated paraprofessionals that serve our children at schools across the county. This training was made possible by the amazing ASD Support Team and through the generous support of PEPSA (Partnership for Effective Programs for Students with Autism). Congrats to everyone who made this training happen!
