❗ Diets are not sustainable because they were never created to be. ❗ The very definition of a diet from a medical sense is a restricted form of eating used to achieve a desired result which is typically weight loss. So by going on a "diet" you are already going about this part of your health and wellness journey from a finite perspective. Which in turn will lead you to eventually spinning your wheels and ending up in the same spot you started. Now does this mean that you cannot receive benefits from going on a diet? No, but I urge you to consider the sustainability of said diet before starting it. For instance, if you go on the keto diet? Ask yourself if you could restrict carbs (breads, pastas, oats, etc.) to point where you can barely eat them for the rest of your life or at the very least the next 20 years. If the answer is no, I would urge you to consider going down a more sustainable path. What is that more sustainable path? ->It is one where you take control of your nutrition and actually learn what your body needs to feel great. ->It is one where you put aside the latest fad, stop listening to your favorite influencer and take the time to prioritize your health over other's opinions. Let’s talk about diets Diets are designed to fail. Let me say that again so those in the back can hear me, DIETS ARE DESIGNED TO FAIL. In all my research I found while studying to become a Nutritional Coach pointed to this. Diets are a temporary fix. Yes you could lose weight, but once you finish the “circuit” the weight comes right back on. It’s not teaching you lifestyle changes, which is what you need to maintain your weight loss. I can also speak from first hand experience, I have tried many diet trends and can tell you, they didn’t work! Juice cleanse, Keto, Paleo, No Sugar. Maybe I lost a few pounds, but it didn’t help me keep them off. Or they did absolutely nothing besides cause me to lose money and gain irritability. Bottom line, you want to lose weight and keep it off, you need to develop lifestyle changes. Something catered to you, so you can still eat the things you enjoy (in moderation) and not feel like you're denying yourself.

Two ✌️ problems when it comes to diets are that they often tend to be “all or nothing.” PROBLEM ONE Extreme diets rarely work long-term. The more restrictive the diet, the more likely you are to fail and bounce back to your original weight. In the famous Look AHEAD study, which examined long-term weight loss over 8 years, 50% of participants lost 5% of their body weight, and 25% lost 10%. In the World’s Biggest Loser competition 95% of participants put all the weight back on, often more. PROBLEM TWO We often set overly ambitious health goals, thinking we have to do everything to get results: “go big or go home!” This mindset can be overwhelming, daunting and lead to procrastination (it did with me - for decades). ALTERNATIVE IDEA Our clients find more success by giving up one food item or ingredient and making that a permanent change. “How long should I give up XYZ?” – “Forever.” How to follow this in practice? Easy. Pick an item and give it up. For ever! And then once you feel comfortable having given up that item you move onto item two. Stuck for ideas? Here are some: XYZs: 🌻 vegetable seed oils 🍬 white sugar 🍞 white wheat flour 🌱 unfermented soy 🥛 commercial milk 🧂 table salt And if you are going to give those things up, what could you replace them with?
