Celebrate small wins, prioritise mental health, and invest in professional growth. A strong team is the foundation of any thriving business. 🚶♀️Know when to walk away: As a small business, it may feel counterintuitive to turn down work. However, if there’s no mutual respect or a client is making your job unnecessarily difficult, it’s better to part ways. Your team’s worth is undeniable—you hired them for a reason. 👑 Value your worth: In the early days, it’s tempting to take every opportunity - but don’t undersell yourself. Be selective and confident in the value that you bring. 💪 Maintain strong relationships: While it’s not always possible to avoid burning bridges, it’s crucial to nurture the relationships that matter. Word of mouth is a powerful tool, and our growth has been fueled by the recommendations of partners, clients, and suppliers. Today, I'm taking a moment to celebrate my parents' 35th anniversary, because their journey has had a massive influence on my motivation, professional values and approach in business... For over a decade, whilst I was a kid growing up, they both successfully ran a gastro pub in Essex, which required insane amounts of hours and commitment. Their dedication and approach to business in the Hospitality Industry, taught me lots! Here are some of the key things that I learnt from them: 1. Seizing the Day: The early bird catches the worm; success requires an early start and proactive attitude. 2. Think Long Term: Focus on building lasting relationships; look after your customers! 3. Today is Herald’s 2nd anniversary. It was an idea on a napkin at a restaraunt. I have learned so many lessons in the last two years as the 100% owner of this business. See, I have owned two other businesses before but I was always the junior partner. This time around… Gettting the clients... Losing them… Making payroll… All of the reporting and accounting… Not to mention the actual client work itself… I know I have made a ton of mistakes - but there have been some major wins too. We grew 90% during year two. Year three is shaping up to be 40% growth. But mainly I’m working on margin management. Revenue is vanity. Profit is sanity. Margin is for humanity. I’m after the last!
