New contract signed with The World Bank (WB) to support the Government of the Republic of #Zambia (GRZ): "PPP Institutional Capacity Support" The GRZ has identified PPPs as a core implementation model to develop infrastructure and has prioritized its implementation. It is, nonetheless, aware that it needs to develop capacities across its key ministries and implementing agencies to better handle the planning, structuring and monitoring of PPP concessions. Areas such as transaction advisory management, financial forecasting, procurement processes, negotiations, and concession monitoring, are only few examples of areas where capacities need to be enhanced at the national and sectoral level.   The World Bank is supporting the GRZ to build its capacities in the different PPP areas and under this assignment Aninver Development Partners will help the GRZ in defining and addressing some of its capacity development needs to be able to effectively plan and implement PPP concessions in the road sector.   The aim of this technical assistance is to; (i) conduct a capacity needs assessment of the key implementing ministries and agencies in Zambia, with a focus on the roads sector; (ii) develop a national strategy/ action plan for institutional capacity building; and (iii) deliver a specific set of training/capacity development activities/ initiatives. Overcoming Financial Inclusion Barriers in Papua New Guinea Financial inclusion is essential for sustainable growth and improving quality of life in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Despite efforts, several barriers hinder progress: Geographical Accessibility: PNG’s rugged terrain makes reaching remote areas challenging, often hampered by high logistical costs. Financial Literacy: A lack of basic financial education limits informed decision-making about financial products. Technological Infrastructure: Limited tech infrastructure and connectivity impede the adoption of digital financial services. Regulatory Environment: There's a need for regulations that promote financial innovation while protecting consumers. Cultural Influences: Financial behaviors are deeply influenced by local customs, requiring tailored financial products and services. To address these challenges, financial institutions in PNG are: Deploying mobile banking solutions to enhance reach. Promoting financial literacy through community programs. Investing in technology to extend digital services' accessibility. Collaborating with regulators to foster a supportive financial environment. Integrating cultural values into service design to ensure acceptance. These efforts are vital for achieving widespread financial inclusion and driving PNG's economic and social development. Strategy 5: Strengthen leadership, management, monitoring, and evaluation mechanisms and coordinate with relevant institutions to strengthen and expand implementation   The fifth strategy of the "Community Safe Finance" project is to focus on developing strategies, implementing, managing, leading and monitoring the project through: 1. Establish a Governance Committee chaired by the National Bank of Cambodia and vice-chaired by the Cambodia Microfinance Association, which consists of relevant representatives, SPTFs, and other stakeholders to oversee the implementation and project operation.   2. Establish a Project Execution and Management Committee chaired by the Head of Financial Inclusion and Social Impacts Department in Cambodia Microfinance Association under the auspices of a designated program manager and a project team working to facilitate and manage operations on a regular basis.   3. Regularly monitor and coordinate research and evaluation activities to measure, identify and document key evidences of impacts, feedback, and learning mechanisms to improve the overall implementation of the project implementation.   4. The latest Africa Attractiveness report by Ernst & Young shows that #Uganda recorded #FDI of $10.2 billion — the highest in #EastAfrica — creating 6,300 jobs. Investment inflows into Kenya increased by 117% year-on-year, fetching $2 billion in capital investment and generating 7,819 jobs, with most of the investment going into the business services, technology, and transportation and warehousing sectors. Tanzania's FDIs rose by 133% to reach pre-Covid levels, with 21 projects worth $1.3 billion and creating 4,566 jobs.

Strategy 4: Document evidence and apply good lessons toward the project scope expansion The documentation of evidence in project implementation is highly valuable as it provides insight into the effectiveness and shortcomings of the project. It plays a crucial role in ensuring accountability, preserving knowledge, facilitating communication and collaboration, and enabling evaluation and learning. These factors contribute to the overall success of the project by allowing the project team to make improvements, make informed decisions, and expand the project's scope in a sustainable and efficient manner.   The primary emphasis of the "Community Safe Finance" project's fourth strategy was on   1. Compile lessons learned and evidence from pilot practice in the intervention areas with an emphasis on financial literacy, consumer empowerment, and protection among clients.   2. Share good experiences with relevant stakeholders in national and international forums.   3.
