This is me all dressed up for a presentation in my uni. "WAIT... YOU GO TO COLLEGE??? THAT'S MATRIX BRO." I know that. But I still choose to go. Do you know why? Because even if what they teach at uni is available for free on the Internet, It's still a good experience. Because you meet with all different kinds of people, And give a lot of presentations in front of a crowd. This helps me develop my social and public speaking skills. And I utilize the other hours of my day fully on copywriting. Hot take: I'd rather go to college and do copywriting alongside rather than sit at my screen for the whole day, Without having any social circle. What is your take on colleges? Let me know👇

I took a break from copywriting. I was recently given the amazing opportunity to write an article about Deborah Morrison for the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication. Deb is the SOJC's associate dean for undergraduate affairs and this September, she's being inducted into The One Club for Creativity Educators Hall of Fame. She's the FIRST public university professor to be inducted! It's a big deal. Deb is an extraordinary professor, mentor, and person. She's what her students might refer to as, the GOAT. Story telling can be powerful content especially when it’s relateable. We are all looking for solutions for something in our lives to improve or grow personally and in business. When you create authentic content it can build trust with your audience. Helping you grow your followers. Demonstrate your expertise and experience with solutions to fixing problems or ways to improve them. True life stories are gripping and inspiring from rags to riches, life changing experiences that bring hope and inspiration. Stories that inspire people through life changing experiences. Great stories throughout history have influenced and educated many of us. We teach our children through story telling everyday, it’s how they learn. Keep it simple and structured with a purpose, with a focus on the audience you want to attract. Think of a storyboard and plan the process and the outcome, whilst staying focused on the audience. Be authentic and true to yourself.

Want a "You-Many-You" sandwich? One of my favorite copywriting templates is to start with a personal problem statement, follow it with a broad audience application, then pull it back down to the individual reader. Here's an example from one of our coaching clients: Is self-doubt, perfectionism, or people pleasing holding you back? Many women miss opportunities to level up their career because they don't feel confident speaking up. You don't have to be one of them! Learn simple strategies to gain confidence and courageously ask for (and get!) what you want.

We don’t post about this part of our services often, but especially now, school leaders must consider how we want to build relationships with current and prospective families. Social media can be a great support for this. Many schools have social media accounts, and most of us know how they work. The problem is how to create content without taking away from everything else we need to do to make the school run. When we work with schools on content creation, this is what we recommend: 1: Don’t write scripts. Instead, write hooks. Hooks are the first little piece of what you want to say, and it’s much easier to remember a short hook than a whole script. Plus, you’re more likely to sound like you normally sound in real life. (If you work with us, we do this for you.) 2: Keep it short. Most people watch the first few seconds of a video to decide if they want to read the information in the caption. “Check the caption for how to call in an absence,” is much more effective than 90 seconds explaining a procedure. 3: Do a lot at once. Instead of trying to make time every day to create a video or take photos, carve out an hour to do as many as you can. When we work with schools, we can usually get 10-15 videos done in less than an hour, not including editing. Finally, it’s more important to be yourself and have fun with the process than it is to have lots of great lighting and professional editing. Your school community appreciates authenticity far more than they’ll ever care about production value.
