United Nations Global Service Centre’s Post

Learning by Experience: Co-located partner organizations at the #UNGSC Base in Brindisi provide European High School students with comprehensive, practical insights into the workings of the United Nations. UNGSC in cooperation with colleagues from the #UN International Computing Centre (UNICC), was pleased to host 19 students from the European High School in Brindisi, within the framework of the intensive two-week “Learning by Experience” programme. From UNICC’s expert technical presentations, hands-on labs, and competitive quizzes to UNGSC’s cutting-edge #3Dprinting technology and mapping services, renewable energy, and circular supply chain solutions, students gained practical knowledge and experience in a wide range of areas. Programme highlights also included a visit to the WFP-managed United Nations Humanitarian Response Depot (UNHRD) hub at the San Vito premises, where they learned about the UNHRD platform enabling quick and effective humanitarian response to people in need worldwide, and a briefing by the Standing Police Capacity (SPC) and the Justice and Corrections Standing Capacity, which support conflict-affected countries in re-establishing rule of law and security for sustainable peace. “The experience was unforgettable and important for our future,” noted participants during the closing ceremony. UNGSC and co-located partner organizations UNICC, #UNHRD/World Food Programme, #SPC and JCSC congratulate the students on their completion of the programme and wish them much success in their future endeavors!
