Big Announcement: We are thrilled to announce a new future for Alaska Airlines’ employees with their purchase of a 19-acre property at our Longacres campus in Renton, Washington, which will become home to the airline’s world-class training programs. The new training hub will enhance the training experience for flight attendants, pilots, customer service agents and more, as well as centralize operations into one facility. We purchased Longacres from Boeing in December 2021. The site housed Boeing Commercial Airplane HQ in prior years. Longacres is a 173-acre campus that is being planned for a vibrant, diversified, mixed-use campus that includes an Arts and Entertainment District, miles of walking and jogging trails, ponds and scenic wetlands, and direct access to the Renton/Tukwila Sound Transit Station. Alaska’s purchase from us includes the 600,000-square-foot facility that Boeing purposefully built to house an aviation training facility. Alaska plans to invest an additional $100 million to renovate the space. Alaska previously occupied the building which they have now purchased. We are grateful for the long-term partnership we’ve had with Alaska – in 2023, we secured a 20-year renewal and expansion of Alaska Airlines’ lease to 107,000 square feet at this property. Alaska originally held approximately 38,000 square feet of space in the building. “This major commitment by Alaska alongside the significant investment made by the Sounders in opening its new training facility earlier this year, has created significant momentum for the mixed-use campus. Given these events, Renton is a bright spot in the region and we’re excited to build upon these announcements to bring other beloved Northwest brands to our exciting new community,” said Elizabeth Thorson, Unico Properties Director, Market Leader. “We’re pleased to have secured in excess of 670,000 square feet of occupancy since acquiring the property in a difficult office environment throughout the country.” “It is great to see this special 173-acre campus come to life with the opening of the Sounders FC practice facility and now the thousands of Alaska Airlines employees that will frequent the site,” said Ned Carner, Founder Wing Point Partners who worked with Unico to facilitate the sale. “We are one step closer to achieving our goal of an active campus that seamlessly brings the community to work, live, and recreate together.” For more details, check out the full story here: https://lnkd.in/ghNS7kUi Photo Credit: NBBJ #UnicoProperties #AlaskaAirlines #Longacres #ArtsandEntertainmentDistrict #Boeing #WorldClass #CRE #CommericialRealEstate #Renton

Managing Director, City Room Rentals- Helping students and universities find the best accommodation solutions.
As a leading provider of pop hotel partnerships in Dublin, we have worked with most of the institutional and PE owners in the city over the past five years. We have noticed a trend of switching to longer-term leases in the UK market, which we also operate in. There is certainly a case in some assets based on location of operational benefits of this switch, such as avoiding frequent turnarounds during the 10/11 weeks of summer and potentially increasing NOI. However, we believe that summer hotel models are still the optimal choice, if they are managed professionally with a high-quality delivery of staffing, cleaning, and linen services. Of course, this is subject to planning and or material change of use consents. Is this a big step change in PBSA in Dublin and the wider IE markets? Cork, Gallway, Limerick etc that are coming out the blocks with PBSA… #studenthousing #dublin #studentaccommodation https://lnkd.in/dxD_XvBS

Finding the Perfect Accommodation for Year 2 at University It feels like your student has literally just arrived at university, and now it's time to look for private accommodation for next year. Not only is the leap from Halls to shared private accommodation a little daunting, but the frenzy generated by fellow students can be quite stressful! After all, how can they possibly choose who their housemates will be next year when they're only just starting to make friends? It's a pretty major decision, right? Whether you're a parent hoping to help or a student navigating the rental market for the first time, we share the top tips and resources to make sure you're on the right track. What to look for in private accommodation Here are some key things to consider when looking for a place: 1. Location, location, location! How far is it from campus? Is public transport within easy reach? Check how safe the area is and how close you'll be to shops, gyms and social venues. 2. Budget friendly (without sacrificing comfort) Don't be fooled by a low rent - look out for hidden costs such as utilities, Wi-Fi and deposits. Work out a budget that includes all the extras so there are no nasty surprises. 3. Condition of the property Does it look well maintained? Look for things like damp, mould and general upkeep. It's worth checking before you sign anything! 4. Reputable landlord/agent Is the landlord responsive? Are there any reviews or feedback from previous tenants? A dodgy landlord can make the experience much more stressful than it needs to be. 5. Safety and security Check for working locks, smoke alarms and any safety certificates (such as a gas safety certificate). Feeling safe and secure in your home is key to a productive student life. Have you ever stopped and thought about the amount of time reception staff at student accommodation properties are spending dealing with parcel management. We have... Previously a courier would have a parcel to deliver to a student. The courier would approach the reception, reception would sign for the parcel, record the parcel in the properties register, store the parcel, and notify the recipient. The recipient would then go to reception to retrieve their parcel, the reception staff would then look for the stored parcel, hand over the parcel and have the recipient sign the parcel out. Groundfloor™ Parcel Lockers research has found that the manual parcel management process is at a minimum 4 mins per parcel. In a property that has 750 beds it can be expected that parcel management can consume up to 29 hours a week, that is close to a full-time job! Groundfloor parcel lockers take all the management away from your staff with courier direct delivery. Our systems accept delivery from ALL couriers and Australia Post. The smart technology behind our locker doors notifies residents of their delivery via SMS and issues courier drivers with an electronic signature. Make 2024 the year where you use your staff for more meaningful tasks, let us look after the parcels so you can really look after your residents. Can you spot the parcel shelf Elf? #PBSA #studentaccommodation #apsaa #parcellockers #seasonsgreetings #lastmiledelivery #saa Student Accommodation Association (SAA) APSAA - Asia-Pacific Student Accommodation Association

Pros and Cons of Shared vs. Private Student Accommodations 🏡 When choosing student accommodation, one of the biggest decisions is whether to opt for a shared or private space. Both options have their benefits, but which one is right for you? Let’s break it down: Shared Accommodation Pros: Cost-effective 💸 – Split rent and bills, making it easier on the budget. Social environment 🫂 – Living with others helps you build friendships and networks quickly. Shared responsibilities 🧹 – Cleaning, cooking, and other household chores are often shared. Cons: Limited privacy 🚪 – Shared spaces mean you won’t always have a private spot to retreat to. Potential conflicts ⚠️ – Living with others can sometimes lead to disagreements. Noise levels 🎧 – Peace and quiet aren’t always guaranteed. Private Accommodation Pros: Full privacy 🛏️ – You have your own space, perfect for studying or relaxing without interruptions. Control over your environment 🎨 – Set your own rules, decor, and lifestyle choices. Quiet and focus 🔕 – Ideal for those who need peace and quiet for their studies. Cons: Higher costs 💰 – Private spaces often come with a heftier price tag. Loneliness 🤷♂️ – Without roommates, you may feel isolated. Choose what aligns with your budget, lifestyle, and study habits!
