In my opinion we have to think about giving more importance for green building concepts. It encompassing environmental, economic, and social dimensions. Environmentally, these buildings are designed to reduce energy consumption, minimize waste, and lower greenhouse gas emissions through sustainable practices such as energy-efficient systems, use of renewable materials, and optimized water management. Economically, green buildings often lead to lower operating costs due to reduced energy and water usage, while potentially increasing property values and attracting environmentally-conscious tenants or buyers. Socially, they contribute to improved indoor air quality and healthier living environments, which can enhance occupant well-being and productivity. Overall, green building practices not only support environmental stewardship but also provide financial advantages and foster healthier communities

MWRD Seeks Applicants For Sustainable Landscaping Awards; Applications Due September 30, 2024 The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD) is accepting applications from Cook County individuals and organizations for its 2024 Sustainable Landscaping Awards until September 30. The awards recognize the activities and innovations from entities such as cities and villages, schools, houses of worship, businesses and others. Qualifications for the Sustainable Landscaping award may be demonstrated through the innovative use of green infrastructure, capital investment (private and public), and public education.
