Would you stay if things got dangerous? ⚠️
I was listening to Rowlands Kaotcha on a webinar talking about the unsung heroes of ‘international development’ showing up for their communities during COVID-19, while the INGOs withdrew, and then spent time figuring out their re-entry strategies.
It got me thinking - what an eye opening time that was, showing us who really has ‘capacity’ to be able to lead their communities.
Because true leadership shows up even more fully when times get tough, right?
Just more confirmation that community led development is the only way to achieve sustainability.
So, today: How many INGOs have exit strategies? I’m interested to see examples.

Dear fellow Student Governance Colleagues, & my amazing network. Hope this message finds you & your family well.
To those who have been active as youth change makers or leaders, you may have heard the unfortunate news of The British Youth Council, that after 74 years of dedicated service, has now been discontinued and no are longer in service. This news has affected me deeply whilst it creates instability in the sector of youth voice, something that I am passionate of.
As to those who have been involved and engaged in youth change campaigns, I am sure that you are all too deeply saddened, by hearing this news.
Thankfully though, the support and dedication of Unloc has never failed to disappoint, & in response to the recent discontinuation of The British Youth Council, Unloc have dedicated 6x sessions based on igniting debating societies and developing your leadership skills. Whether you are a Student Governor, Student Ambassador, Student Representative, involved in change campaigns, to even debating societies from discussing about equality, diversity, & inclusion, to the impact of the UK government establishing new licenses to bore gases, which fuels climate issues such as global warming, or have an interest in getting involved in a youth change society, then this course is for you!
Unloc is a leading not-for-profit organisation that specialises in helping schools, colleges, and organisations to inspire and empower young people to become changemakers through bespoke and innovative programmes, segmenting key skills such as: Entrepreneurship, Leadership, Career Pathways, & Student Voice Advocation.
Unloc was founded by award-winning young leaders & advocates, Hayden Taylor & Ben Dowling. Their mission is to empower young people to drive innovation, by becoming changemakers who seek to build stronger communities and sustainable businesses. Unloc develops young peoples skills, enhance their potential, & boost their determination to succeed.
This doesn't require any reimbursements or pre-payment, meaning that these x6 courses, are FREE! 😊
These sessions are expected to be held consecutively x1 per week, with the first session anticipated to be held at Wednesday 17th April, from 6pm to 7pm. The sessions would then be held consecutively every Wednesday, for 6 weeks, with the last session being held at Wednesday 22nd May. This enables you with the opportunity to network, engage, & connect with other youth changemakers from all across the UK!
It is definitely worth investing your time into attending at least one of these courses, with each of these courses being facilitated by one of the Unloc Founders, with rich expertise in their respective fields 😊

Dublin 15 May 2024, ICT Sustainable Leadership Conference.
Here’s my Free ICT Europe Foundation colleague & friend Jan Hoogstrate explaining how he helps policymakers interested in #righttorepair understand how Big Tech companies view their software.
As Jan says, they think it is like the Mona Lisa. It can’t be touched.
But it doesn’t sit in a museum, it is an asset that you use and you’ve paid for. In your house you can make changes to all things, old and new. It’s not just your builder who can do that. It’s your asset so you need to be able to make changes to the software you own.
We like to keep things informal at EG. Today at EG TalentTech Academy, our many young talents soaked up insights on leadership and personal growth straight from the source: our CEO, Mikkel Bardram.
Wrapped up in a cozy fireside chat, Mikkel shared his wisdom, wearing a snug cardigan to underline the setting. Mikkel shared his reflections, emphasizing the importance of putting oneself in challenging situations to learn and grow. Even if it's tough or you stumble, the knowledge gained is invaluable.
Huge thanks to Mikkel for his participation, and to Sille Bjerremand Hansen for putting together this session. Let's keep chasing those learning opportunities, no matter the challenges.
