Why are right wing populist parties in Europe and America so hostile to Net Zero? And what does this mean for climate policy, in a world where those parties are on the rise? Good to hear Miatta Fahnbulleh on the New Statesman Path to Power Conference's panel on the Green Prosperity Plan stating, "if we try to do this all at the national level we will fail". Clear support for more devolution and working with UK local authorities and mayoral authorities to drive forward climate action in the UK. #NSPath2Power

“One of the most important tools to combat this kind of environmental injustice is procedural justice: ensuring that all affected people are informed, can express their opinions, and influence decisions. For Tribes, procedural justice is especially important. Even though they were forced off their lands, Tribes retained inherent sovereignty and maintain a government-to-government relationship with the federal government. Several federal statutes mandate Tribal consultation to inform Tribes of potential impacts to their historical and cultural resources and to protect their cultural resources.” If you are working with NW tribes consider taking part in Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians (ATNI). One of the many issues that ATNI are focused on is Climate Resiliency and working through Washington Conservation Action & Native Vote Washington to get the vote out to defend Washington’s Climate Commitement Act. Let’s all forge new protocols to center our climate action with Tribal consultation.

🌍 This is a great opportunity for Local Authorities and Community Energy projects as Minister Ryan Launches €27 Million Fund for Community Climate Action. This substantial funding allocation, one of the largest of its kind, is a significant step towards our commitment to climate action. If you represent a community or voluntary group interested in stepping up climate action, don't hesitate to reach out to us. We can provide guidance on the program and help you match your local action with suitable funding. You can contact us on 071 930 0025 o email info@planenergy.com Here's what you need to know about the fund: 🌱 Local Empowerment. The fund will be administered by local authorities, ensuring that solutions are tailored to the unique needs of each community. In our experience every region has its own challenges and the most effective solutions are tailored to specific locations. 🏡 Benefits for Communities. This fund is not just about climate action; it's also a community development fund. It will make our towns and villages more resilient to the impacts of climate change. By partnering with local authorities, we can empower communities to drive positive change. 🤝 Shared Island Dimension. Importantly, this initiative includes a Shared Island Fund, enabling cross-border and all-island climate action projects. Collaboration is key to reaching our common climate targets. We have a successful track record with community energy projects throughout Ireland. We've seen firsthand how such initiatives can transform communities and contribute to a sustainable future. Now, we have an exciting opportunity to partner with local communities to access these funds and improve their sustainability. We believe that by leveraging our expertise in community energy, we can help communities achieve their climate and energy goals. Let's create low carbon communities that will benefit us now and for generations to come. Together, we can make a difference. #ClimateAction #CommunityEnergy #Sustainability #PlanEnergy #LocalAuthority

Lovely video following on from our recent deliberative process in Bude #citizensassemblies #citizensjuries https://lnkd.in/gTz4M3RV
“We as a jury want to make an ongoing commitment to continue to push for change - and believe that if we all work together we can achieve this. People power is central to addressing this but likewise so is political action at all levels.” The Bude Area Community Jury on Climate Change presented their recommendations to policymakers, councillors, and civil society organisations in January, but its members have continued to push for action on both the local and national levels, having recently met with Bude-Stratton Town Council, Cornwall Council, and their local MP, to discuss the changes they want to see. To find out more about the Jury’s ongoing work, check out the Bude Climate Partnership website: https://lnkd.in/efhh6vMa For a closer look at the process, take a look at the documentary below! #climatechange #sealevelrise #democracy #citizensassembly
