As we celebrate Black History Month, let's reflect on an excerpt from "White Talking Therapy Can’t Think in Black" that underscores the power of unity in the fight against racial injustice. 📚✊ The Civil Rights Movement: In the 1950s and 1960s, the Civil Rights Movement in the United States marked a pivotal moment in the battle against racial segregation and discrimination. It wasn't just a struggle led by African Americans; it was a collective effort that gained incredible momentum when white allies recognized the injustice and joined the cause. People like Rosa Parks, a Black woman who refused to give up her bus seat, became symbols of courage and inspired countless individuals, both Black and white, to unite and demand change. This excerpt reminds us that real change is possible when individuals from all backgrounds come together to stand against injustice. Let it inspire us to continue working towards a more inclusive and equitable world. 🤝🌍 #culturalconsciousness #culturallyconscious #bempongtalkingtherapy #BookExcerpt #BlackHistoryMonthUK

Today we honor #Juneteenth, a day of reflection and celebration which commemorates the end of the enslavement of African Americans in the United States. Two and a half years after President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation, enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas finally received the news of their freedom on June 19, 1865. Despite the powerful importance of this day, it wasn’t until just three years ago, on June 17, 2021, that it was recognized as a federal holiday. In recognition of Juneteenth, our Transinclusive Group offices are closed today, Wednesday, June 19, and on Friday, June 21. Black Americans have long been at the forefront of fighting for universal human rights in this country. From #civilrights and #womensrights to #queerrights, #transrights, #immigrantrights, and #workersrights, Black leaders have championed the cause of justice and equity for all and led the way, despite facing systemic racism, transphobia, homophobia, and so many other forms of discrimination and erasure along the way. As we honor Juneteenth, we reflect on the powerful achievements of Black Americans and the imperative for this nation to truly & meaningfully confront a deep legacy of enduring racism and inequity.
