👨💻A message from Donald G. Evans I spent an hour today googling around 👖“what kind of trousers did men wear in the 20s?” ✂️“facial hair Jazz Age” 🎩Great Gatsby-style hats” I foraged around the house for a pocket watch I used to wear but has been AWOL since about 2003. (No luck yet). I chose the color “coffee” for my (vaguely) 20s-style vest, wavering only briefly before I hit “confirm order.” The amazing Colvin House is helping us plan The Great Gimlet, which will start at 7 p.m. on Saturday, February 24. Mike Burke came up with the idea for this fundraiser four years ago, when we were trying to navigate our way through the early days of the pandemic. The concept is simple: we pair Chicago literature with cocktails. Our mixologist Ryan Prindle shows us how to make the upscale cocktails (we also send each guest a pdf cocktail booklet so you can make them again later). Somebody really smart—this year scholar Michelle Moore—tells us about the connections between Chicago literature and the drinks. The esteemed magician Robert Charles along with Rita, joins Mike in leading us through these intermissions. Mostly, though, it’s just a party that raises money for the Chicago Literary Hall of Fame This is one of CLHOF’s two fundraisers for the year—most everything else we do is free and open to the public. Registration for this event is $125. Money raised goes towards our programming throughout the year. Always, people wait until the VERY last minute to commit. You watch: I’ll be getting phone calls and texts even as I’m enjoying my first cocktail, “Hey, for some reason, the website is saying registration is closed. Can you help?” NO—I can’t help—I’m busy DRINKING. Do the right thing here: https://lnkd.in/gPsjNvBG #CLHOF #ChicagoLiteraryHallOfFame #eventsinchicago #chicago #eventsinchi #roaringtwenties #chicagohistory #history

We asked this question today in our session “From Welcoming to Cooperation: Creating Spaces of Belonging and Purpose” at the Nonprofit Association of Washington. What becomes possible for you when you feel you belong? For our community? P.S. Music can be a great way to create spaces of belonging.

⛪ Church capital campaign consultant helping evangelical pastors biblically raise funds to build, remodel, retire debt, and increase offerings.│Biblical Program. Elite Service. Proven Results.
🎆10-Point checklist to launch your church capital campaign with a bang In our Abundant Giving church capital campaigns, we start the 7-week public phase with a celebration feast. 🎈🍽️ We call it the KICKOFF EVENT. This is a church-wide banquet whose purpose is to begin the process of raising spiritual and financial support for the campaign by communicating excitement, information, and spiritual truths, and by building unity in the church body. The banquet can be as fancy or simple as you desire, anything from a BBQ to a black tie formal. ✅ Follow this checklist to create a successful Kickoff Event: [ ] Schedule the Kickoff Event for the Friday or Saturday before the first Sunday in the 7-week public phase of the campaign. [ ] Choose the venue. (A commercial venue makes it more special.) [ ] If you choose to use your own church facility, hire cooking and serving staff. (You want all members free to experience the event.) [ ] Decide on a plate or buffet dinner. (A buffet is more efficient.) [ ] Don’t charge members. Pay for it out of the capital campaign budget. [ ] Send invitations at least 30 days before the banquet. [ ] Provide child-care, if possible. [ ] Plan an agenda of 2 ½ hours. [ ] Include great food, joyful worship music, testimonies, a devotional by the pastor, a message by a guest speaker, distribution of the case statement and commitment card, an overview of the campaign by the Executive Director, and a presentation of the building plans and options. [ ] Make it the most special event in the history of the church. 🙌 If you execute this Kickoff Event properly, your people will leave excited about your building project, enthused about your capital campaign, and ready to study the biblical principles of generous giving. The result will be spiritual transformation, financial generosity, and the successful completion of your building project! ⛪ 🎉🌟 #stewardship #churchconsulting #churchfundraising #churchstewardship, #churchcapitalcampaigns

How do we do it? Firemakers offers retreats, celebrations, festivals, gatherings, men's circles and more. All of these events are organised professionally and offer profound experiences and deep healing to all participants. And we do it for a price you wouldn't believe possible. How do we do it? First of all you need to understand that Firemakers is a foundation without any aim for profit or personal financial gain. None of our events and activities are offered because we have to make a living out of it. That is not who we are. Who are we then? Firemakers consists of a group of professionals who offer their talent and wisdom as an act of selfless service. A service to the community: for by supporting men in their growth we help the world to better fathers, better sons, better partners and better leaders. Therefore we are able to offer you our events at cost price or less, or even for free. A weekend gathering for only €88 seems impossible, a three-and-a-half day festival for €135 out of this world. As a foundation we also receive donations. With these donations we are able to set up more activities, buy tickets for men who are financial less fortunate, and pay for teachers with expertise beyond our team. This way we can provide the abundance we have brought for so many years and ensure we can bring it for even more years to come. If you have any questions, you are always welcome to ask.
