Memorable Quotes by President Jimmy Carter The 39th president of the United States has dedicated himself to community service and championed human rights throughout much of his life. Our American values are not luxuries, but necessities -- not the salt in our bread, but the bread itself. ~ Jimmy Carter War may sometimes be a necessary evil. But no matter how necessary, it is always an evil, never a good. We will not learn how to live together in peace by killing each other's children. ~ Jimmy Carter To be true to ourselves, we must be true to others. ~ Jimmy Carter We should live our lives as though Christ were coming this afternoon. ~ Jimmy Carter We cannot resort to simplistic or extreme solutions which substitute myths for common sense. ~ Jimmy Carter America did not invent human rights. In a very real sense, it is the other way round. Human rights invented America. ~ Jimmy Carter In a nuclear age, each of us is threatened when peace is not secured everywhere. - ~ Jimmy Carter The awareness that health is dependent upon habits that we control makes us the first generation in history that to a large extent determines its own destiny.
Jimmy Carter is a national treasure.

Keynote Speaker Cultivating Wellness, Mental Health and Resilience through a Vicarious Trauma-Informed Approach
Did you know that in 2022, tragically, over 49,000 lives were lost to suicide? Shockingly, a significant number were individuals aged 25-44, predominantly of Caucasian descent. This includes my father, a retired police sergeant, who, like over 50% of others, used a firearm to end his life. While there are interventions, therapies, and medications that can help prevent suicide, it's time we shift our focus. Let's open up conversations about adverse childhood experiences, the crucial nature of healthy caregiver attachment during infancy, and the traumas that precede joining professions like law enforcement. Do we need to emphasize the importance of discussing well-being, fostering healthy connections with peers, family, and spirituality, or reaching out to 988? Of course! As you share your present struggles, also bravely recount the challenges you have overcome in the past, no matter how many years have elapsed. As a suicide loss survivor, I strongly believe that together, through open dialogue and understanding, we can strive to prevent such heartbreaking losses. Jason M. Palamara and I are grateful to Dianne Bernhard for contributing to our new book, Living Blue. #vicarioustrauma #compassionfatigue #lawenforcementtraining #policechief #police
Dianne Bernhard is the Executive Director of the Concerns of Police Survivors organization and responsible for fulfilling their mission, providing leadership, overseeing the functions of the organization, strategizing for future growth, and operating C.O.P.S under the direction of the National Board. What Dianne is most however, is an amazing human who has cared for our Nation’s heroes in such an impactful way through the work she does. Before her role at C.O.P.S, Dianne was a Deputy Chief for the Columbia Missouri Police Department and uses her years of experience and leadership to show up for officers and their families when they need it most. I had the privilege of speaking at the C.O.P.S National Conference in Dallas last year and saw firsthand what an impact her work is having on the law-enforcement profession. Barbara Rubel, Compassion Fatigue Speaker and I are excited to have Dianne’s words inside of the End of Watch chapter of our book, Living Blue: Helping Law Enforcement Officers and Their Families Survive and Thrive from Recruitment to Retirement, to share with you all.

The not-so-secret method to starting what will be a successful negotiation
PhD-trained scientist and a PMP-certified product development leader with over 30 years of international experience in programs ranging from early stage to lifecycle management in multiple TA and multiple modalities.
The fundamental secret to starting successful negotiation is to begin where we have common ground, similar values. This point has been made by many world leaders, including former president Jimmy Carter whose success in the Middle East is well known. This is yet another lesson of which we are sadly reminded of by the tragedy of October 7, 2023, and as pointed out by the late Sir Jonathan Sacks and explained in this video: https://lnkd.in/dtitDFMr

One of the few things that brings hope during this tragic time for the State of Israel is our incredible people—true heroes, both men and women. What continues to shock me, however, is the hypocrisy surrounding Israel and the steps it takes to defend itself, while more than 100 hostages remain trapped in Hamas tunnels, deprived of sunlight for over a year. No one knows their condition or what horrors they may have endured. Even the Red Cross is denied access to them. For a year, northern Israel has been under relentless daily bombardment. Civilians, including children, have been forced to flee their homes. Innocent children, who never harmed anyone, were killed by Hezbollah rockets while playing soccer in their neighborhood fields. Yet when Israel chooses to defend itself, images of Lebanon are broadcast around the world, demanding that Israel stop protecting its citizens. This is antisemitism—perhaps in a modern guise, perhaps wrapped in hollow rhetoric, but antisemitism nonetheless. Despite all of this, it’s encouraging to see that some still recognize the reality of the situation. On one side are cruel terrorist organizations that murder, abuse, and rape Jews simply because they are Jews. On the other, Israel who only responds to the terror attacks and do what is necessary to defends its people. Make no mistake—without Israel, you would be next. Stand on the right side of history.

The more advanced way to look at this challenge would be to look beyond male and female. We also need to look at personality type. At the moment a great percentage of those that achieve senior ranks whether male or female are target and standard focused with reputation and credibility sensitivity . That means they don’t focus on taking the people with them. The function of leading is therefore compromised as what they do well needs to be balanced with the skills of taking the people with you and introducing new ideas. In leadership you have to be people focused .(General Colin Powell and many others who understand what leadership is). The male and female thing is completely misleading. The targets in diversity, morally right of course, but also need to be linked to the outcome we seek, a balanced, efficient, unified organisarion.. You will notice there will always be adversity . However when in balance you can be unaffected, because the structure is strong and you have confidence in it. College of Policing .
Tor Garnett, Detective Chief Superintendent at the Metropolitan Police, recently took advantage of our reasonable adjustments policy, bringing her baby on site to attend the Police Leadership Programme.
