The festive period is a time when we give gifts to those we love – but it’s also a time when many people give back to those in need. At HAB Law, our 1-1-1 model ensures that 1% of our company profits are shared with client support organisations. This helps to ensure the organisations we work with a continually funded to help them carry out the vital work they do. Furthermore, the 1-1-1 method also pledges that 1% of all work is pro bono for our clients and 1% of all employee time is paid volunteer time for client support organisations 🤝. "Did you know Jane's wife had a heart attack?" ... was an SMS I received from one of our network members in the night. It stopped me in my tracks. But I also couldn't stop smiling. "Why are you smiling?" quizzes my husband. "Because these two consultants did not know each other 2 years ago, and now look at this. They know each other at this level in life. What other business networks do you get that?" This and countless other examples of comradry and care, is a core part of the Benefolk community (and Xfactor before that). It's wellbeing at its deepest sense, and wellbeing for those who get up everyday to share their skills, services and experience with clients. As a former consultant in the charity sector, it's the network that I wished existed but didn't. I am sharing this, as the Benefolk Network is a special community to be part of, and we're inviting new business members to join us this year, for the first time in 18 months. It's ideal for experienced owner-managed operators, who want to work collaboratively with other business owners, and make a bigger impact by being part of the Benefolk community and mission. As part of #mentalhealthawareness week, we want to celebrate the power of being there for each other by launching our #BeenThereForMe campaign. We want to share real stories of who has #BeenThere for you, to thank them and to encourage others to be there for each other through volunteering and peer support. To join our campaign, let us know: 1. Who has been there for you. 2. When/how they have been there for you. 3. What you learned - why it is important to be there for others. You can send us a picture and text, a voiceover, or a video. Whatever you think is the best way to share your story. It doesn't need to be long or complicated, just a nod to the amazing person/people who have been there for you.
