I know business is business, but, $5.55 for a 12-Pack of #CocaCola at Ingles, that's the sale price, by the way if you buy 3. That's$16.65 for the sales price! They are $9.48 for the individual 12-pack if you only buy 1 or 2. In these challenging economic times do you not realize that your soft drink is becoming a luxury item? Many of your customers (myself included) are going to buy generic or products like Faygo. While I am not endorsing the song, "Blueberry Faygo", that's a built-in marketing tool at a time where people will be looking for more affordable options. The only people that will be able to afford it are the wealthy and politicians when they run out of their champagne.

The market prices of premium whiskies are influenced by a variety of factors, many of which are similar to those affecting other collectibles and luxury goods. Here’s an overview of how prices are determined: 1. Rarity and Scarcity 2. Brand Reputation 3. Age and Condition 4. Provenance and Authenticity 5. Market Demand 6. Expert Appraisals As you can notice, we do not mention the auction prices, because they are often influenced by emotional pulses of the buyers and by a scarce visibility of the auction house websites. So we think the auction results aren't sources authoritative enough to consider them a definitive factor for pricing a bottle. Among the six points listed here, the most valuable "external factor" is the expert appraisals one: a whisky expert or, even better, a whisky expert team of a solidly established company specialized in premium whiskiy bottles investment, are a warranty when deciding to buy or sell your own collections. Contact The Spirits Club to know how to add some of the rarest and sought-after bottles to your collection, and assure a year-to-year two-digits profit. 🏁 Why MORE competition is a game-changer… In the early days of Laylo I would secretly panic every time a new boxed wine brand arrived on the scene. I thought it was easier if there were only one or two of us focused on the premium boxed space. But the reality is, in most trade conversations about boxes, glass bottles are our competitor. In spite of the many huge disadvantages (see previous posts) they are the safe, easy option. And it has taken ambitious visionaries to try something new. (You know who you are… legends, all!). When we launched cans in Q4 last year I was conscious we were entering a more crowded market. But I hadn’t anticipated how positive that would feel… ⭐️ The format is established as a great option in travel, theatres, events etc. Our competitors are just that, other cans. ⭐️ Which means less time talking about format, and more time focused on our superpowers: premium examples of popular styles, wrapped in beautiful design. ⭐️ Plus it’s simpler to measure LFL sales performance when there’s historical canned wine data in a venue. Looking forward to more healthy competition in 2025 in boxes and cans. Let’s go!

The first step into something new… Last night’s inaugural Whisky Sounds Good event went off very nicely – 15 of 17 tickets sold, which, for a Monday, and my first event, isn’t half bad. Huge thanks to everyone who braved the storm to join us. Always nice to see a few familiar faces along with a some new ones. It’s clear to me that success in anything is rarely achieved by a solo effort. I truly appreciate the support of those that bought tickets and to Tucker, Candice and the Algiers Club* for helping make this event a success. The feedback on the whisky selection was very positive – so much so that a few even suggested I’m undercharging. Don’t worry I won’t be so kind in the future 😆 We even managed a five-star review on the event site (thanks for your support, you know who you are 😁). Now it’s time for more planning, perhaps a cigar with local cigar expert Francisco Arias and a few more days in Dallas. Up next is Houston and Detroit. Accepting inquiries for Private in-home tastings, whisky club nights, and corporate entertainment. *If you are curious about Algiers Club for either hosting a brand event or their membership options, don’t be shy and get in touch, I’ll connect you for a tour of this fantastic property. Apologies to those that left before this group shot 📸 #newventure #whiskytasting #scotch #spiritsindustry

Chivas Regal Whisky increased their price by 2X, and their sales skyrocketed. The strange part: They didn't change the product at all. The whisky itself remained exactly the same. Post WW2 in the late 1940s, Chivas Brothers were struggling to sell their whisky in a crowded market. At that time, it used to be moderately priced, and not really different than others in the market. Any other company would try to rework the "Product", or come up with a marketing blitz, or do any number of other things. Not Chivas though. They didn't change sh*t, and simply doubled the price. This price increase created the perception that the whisky had been elevated to a “luxury” product. This is now called the "Chivas Regal Effect", which says an expensive item is automatically considered better, even "luxury". And for most of us, that's all it takes to start buying the item.

Developing An Effective Serve Strategy Understanding the target territory, channel and venue is crucial when developing a serve strategy. Red Bull commissioned our team to create a serve strategy for the launch of their new Red Bull Curuba expression into two major national accounts. We crafted seven signature serves featuring the Curuba expression. The process began with an analysis of macro trends to develop three flavour samples. Our next step was to refine these serves to meet key internal KPIs for this project: aesthetics, simplicity, and margin. To ensure the national accounts could seamlessly adopt the serves, we rigorously tested them for speed of service. A successful serve strategy starts with understanding the planned destination of the serves. In this instance, the drinks were intended for two multi-site national bar brands. The serves needed to be easily integrated into high-volume venues, appeal to their customer demographic, and minimise potential wastage. We established these criteria through channel analysis, informed by discussions with our on-trade network. Approaching serve strategy academically and backing it with real-world insights is essential to ensure the maximum rate of sale.....one size certainly does not fit all. #servestrategy #drinksmarketing #ontrade
