Appalling patronising interview. I'm wondering if they would interview a white male MP in this manner. Not permitting her to speak, talking above her. When will people learn, we ethnic minority women are not stupid or dumb. We rightfully deserve respect and dignity for our voices to be heard. Zarah Sultana is an MP. A Member of Parliament. How can you possibly denegrate her with this childish form of questioning and attitude? TV journalists don't ask obvious questions. You should be defining them for the public before introducing her. Why did you focus on definitions, on the basics rather than what is happening within our society? Then say you don't have to answer these questions. Did you think that an MP is so dumb not to answer basic questions? Why was this level of intelligence implied and assumed? Would you imply this level of intelligence towards any white male MP? Wake up tv media!!! A very uncomfortable yet common dumbing down experience of us ethnic minority women within the UK. Yet more than anything it reflects on the attitudes and views of the interviewers. Why are you placing people with no respect for diversity on an ITV programme? It begs the question doesn't it? Well done honorable MP Zarah Sultana for responding with grace and dignity. ##diversitymatters #womenofcolourmatter #media #itv #gmt

Watching the GMT interview with MP Zarah Sultana was a deeply uncomfortable experience. The aggressive questioning and the dismissive attitude from an all-white panel struck a chord with me, as it mirrored the treatment I’ve faced in numerous boardrooms and seen others experience too. Too often, women of colour find their perspectives undermined, their voices talked over and their contributions minimized. It’s disheartening, but not surprising, to see how often assertive, intelligent women, particularly those from marginalized backgrounds, are subjected to scrutiny and hostility simply for standing their ground. We must continue to challenge these dynamics, support one another, and ensure that all voices are heard and respected, no matter the setting. Do better GMT. ✍🏽Edited to add: I’m not replying to any more comments dismissing, invalidating what we can see with our very own eyes - you are the problem. 😫 Go and look up gaslighting. This is not just “terrible journalism” they didn’t treat Yvette Cooper like this or Sayeeda Warsi who went on today.

⏰ LAST CHANCE to reply to our Europe-wise survey on the situation of #Roma #women! The scarce information and data on the situation of Roma women in Europe precludes their social inclusion and presence in key national and regional policy documents. The key aim of this research is to inform the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) on the situation of Roma women, but also to provide insights into the situation of Roma women across Europe and raise awareness about the key challenges Roma women face! The survey targets Romani gender experts, Roma and Roma women NGOs and structures across Europe. The research is a joint collaboration between the ERGO Network, Feminist Collective of Romani Gender Experts, Institute for Research and Policy Analysis - Romalitico, and the Global Forum of Communities Discriminated on Work and Descent (GFoD).
